In the tragic death, a woman in Thailand was reported dead after being swept to sea while doing yoga on rocks.
A tragic accident claimed the life of a young actress as she practiced yoga on the rocks of Koh Samui, Thailand.
Kamilla Belyatskaya, 24, was swept into the ocean by a giant wave, moments after filming herself on her yoga mat overlooking the Gulf of Thailand.
Kamilla’s final moments captured on footage
Kamilla, a Russian tourist and aspiring actress, had been vacationing with her boyfriend on the scenic island.
On the fateful day, she set up her pink yoga mat on the rocks near a popular viewpoint to perform yoga.
CCTV footage showed her arriving at the parking lot and walking to the rocks shortly before 1 p.m.
By 1:30 p.m., tragedy struck. A powerful wave hit Kamilla, washing her into the sea.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing her struggle to stay afloat in the turbulent waters. Rescue workers arrived 15 minutes later, but only her yoga mat was found floating in the waves.
A bystander witnessed Kamilla’s struggle and jumped into the ocean to try to save her.
Despite their brave efforts, the strong currents and dangerous conditions made it impossible to rescue her.
Rescue teams temporarily suspended their search after 30 minutes due to the worsening weather.
Authorities warn about seasonal ocean dangers
Chaiyaporn Subprasert, head of the Samui Rescue Center, emphasized the risks posed by the ocean during monsoon season.
He noted that while the area where Kamilla was practicing yoga was a scenic viewpoint rather than a swimming zone, sudden wave surges could easily catch visitors off guard.
“During monsoon season, we constantly warn tourists, especially in high-risk areas,” Subprasert stated.
Red flags often mark these zones to caution against swimming, but the rocky viewpoint where Kamilla was swept away had no such warnings.
Kamilla’s love for koh Samui before her tragic death
Before the accident, Kamilla had expressed her deep admiration for Koh Samui. On social media, she described it as “the best place on Earth.”
Reflecting her joy and gratitude, she wrote, “This rocky beach is the best thing I’ve ever seen. Thank you, universe, for me being here right now. I’m very happy.”
Tragically, Kamilla’s body was discovered two days later, nearly two-thirds of a mile from where she was last seen.
Kamilla Belyatskaya’s tragic death shows the unpredictability and dangers of the ocean.
After the incident, tourists and locals alike need to be aware of nature’s power to prevent such heartbreaking events.
