The bank clerk was working on routine fund transfers when he dozed off.

At the time, he was in the middle of processing a transaction for just 64.20 euros.

However, while he was asleep, he kept his finger pressed on the number two key of his keyboard.

This simple action caused a massive error in the transaction amount.

As a result, the bank’s system registered an enormous sum instead of the intended smaller amount.

The incorrect transfer was sent to his supervisor, who was responsible for approving daily transactions.

The supervisor fired because of her employee’s mistake

The supervisor, who had worked at the bank since 1986, did not notice the error while reviewing the transactions.

She was busy checking 812 documents for any mistakes. Unfortunately, she missed the giant sum that had been accidentally inserted into the system.

After the error was discovered, the bank took immediate action against her.

The bank claimed that she had failed to do her job properly by not verifying the transactions before approving them.

As a consequence, she was fired from her position.

Discovery of the mistake

Fortunately, the clerk and supervisor were saved when a third employee noticed the mistake of $234,164,444.44 (222,222,222.22 euros) and fixed it before it was sent.

This quick thinking saved the bank from losing a vast sum of money.

The oversight served as a reminder of the importance of careful review in financial transactions.

Legal proceedings are underway regarding the case.

Following the incident, the supervisor decided to challenge her dismissal.

A court later ruled that there was no malicious intent in her actions.

The court found that she had not acted out of negligence and should not have been fired.

As a result, the court ordered the bank to reinstate her, stating that the termination of her work contract was unjust.

Reactions from the public

The incident quickly gained attention on social media.

Many people found humor in the situation, sharing jokes about the error.

One user joked about what it would be like to see a bank balance suddenly increase by over $200 million.

Others made light-hearted comments, like imagining the clerk as a cat that accidentally sat on the keyboard.

However, some people expressed concern about the bank’s decision to fire the supervisor.

Many felt that firing someone for a mistake, especially one that was unintentional, was not fair.

I need to believe in miracles happen to belive miracles happen. Pleaseeee, one user said.

There have been cases in the past where funds were mistakenly transferred into the wrong accounts.

Another case involved Sibongile Mani, a student at Walter Sisulu University in South Africa.

She found nearly $1 million was wrongly transferred to her bank account.

She spent the money quickly before being caught and facing legal consequences.
