The video has the caption: “Nice Jacket Bro. Glad you look nice and svelte with those clothes line pegs, while our city burns to the ground.”
While reporting live for “World News Tonight with David Muir”, Muir was broadcasting from the Palisades, surveying the damage caused by the fire.
During his segment, he was caught cinching his jacket with clamps, which drew ridicule from viewers.
The footage showed Muir pointed to the destruction behind him, a wooden clamp used to tighten his flame-retardant jacket was clearly visible.
The clamp, resembling a clothes peg, cinched the loose jacket, accentuating Muir’s torso.
The jacket, designed to resemble a firefighter’s uniform, sparked further criticism. “It’s pathetic,” one insider said, calling Muir’s behavior a “Zoolander meets Anchorman” moment.
