Andy Currie, a man from Bangor, Wales, shocked the world with his story of consuming 30 cans of Pepsi every day for two decades.

His addiction to the sugary drink had severe consequences on his health, drained his finances, and impacted his daily life.

After battling this habit for years, Andy finally managed to break free, sharing his journey to inspire others facing similar struggles.

Andy’s love for Pepsi started innocently but quickly turned into a harmful dependency.

Each day began with a litre of Pepsi, which he followed with up to nine more litres throughout the day.

Working night shifts only worsened his reliance on the sugary drink, as he relied on the sugar rush to stay awake and focused.

His job at Tesco made it easy to sustain his addiction, allowing him to buy large quantities of Pepsi on his way home.

Reflecting on his habits, Andy explained, “I’ve always loved the taste of a cold Pepsi. It gave me the energy I needed to keep going.”

Drinking such large amounts of Pepsi came with an enormous financial cost. Andy spent an average of $25 daily, which amounted to around $8,500 annually.

“It cost me a fortune to be honest. I could have bought a car every year for the same amount I was spending on Pepsi,” he admitted.

“I just needed to have it, as soon as I woke up I’d go to the fridge and pour myself a large glass of Pepsi and just carry on through the day.

“I remember going to weddings and birthdays and while other people had glasses of champagne I’d be toasting people with a can of fizzy pop.”

Over 20 years, this expense was equivalent to buying a car every year.

Social situations also revealed how deeply his addiction had taken root. While others toasted with champagne at weddings and celebrations, Andy would raise a can of Pepsi. Looking back, he admitted, “It cost me a fortune, but I felt like I needed it to get through the day.”

Health consequences of long-term soda addiction

Years of excessive Pepsi consumption began to take a serious toll on Andy’s health. His weight climbed to 19 stone, putting him at significant risk of developing diabetes.

Despite managing to lose two stone through a strict diet, his addiction to Pepsi remained unshaken.

Andy described his dependence as both a poison and a crutch. The physical effects were alarming; he often struggled with anxiety, shortness of breath, and fatigue, all of which were compounded by his weight and sugar intake.

Andy’s turning point came when he sought help from London-based therapist and hypnotist David Kilmurry.

During a 40-minute online hypnosis session, David worked with Andy to address his addiction. Remarkably, the session produced immediate results, and Andy no longer felt the urge to drink Pepsi afterward.

Reflecting on the experience, Andy said, “I don’t know what David said during hypnosis, but I just didn’t want it anymore.”

Since then, he has switched to drinking water and noticed significant improvements in his health and energy levels. His wife, Sarah, also observed that his skin looked healthier.

David, who described Andy’s case as the worst sugar addiction he had encountered, expressed his delight at the transformation. “Andy was resigned to addiction, but now he’s free from the poison that controlled him,” David remarked.

“It became a poison and a crutch to him. Since working with him I am delighted to see him drinking water and healthy drinks.” He added.
