A Japanese YouTuber who spent $14,000 to live as a dog has now launched a fantasy zoo. The attraction allows visitors to experience life as an animal by wearing mascot-style costumes.
Youtuber toco’s journey to becoming a dog
Toco, a YouTuber with a lifelong dream of becoming a dog, gained attention for his unusual transformation. He purchased a hyper-realistic Border Collie costume, spending $14,000 to make his fantasy a reality.
He didn’t just wear the suit—he fully embraced canine life. He lived in a crate and even participated in agility courses.
Now, he’s inviting others to share the experience by opening his own zoo.
Tocotoco zoo lets visitors transform into animals
In October, Toco announced his new project, Tocotoco Zoo, on Instagram. He described it as a place where people can “make their dream of becoming an animal come true.”
The zoo officially opened on January 26, offering a unique experience for animal enthusiasts.
Only one animal costume is available for now
Currently, the only available costume is an Alaskan Malamute suit. Visitors can rent the suit for either a morning or afternoon session.
According to the zoo’s website, the rental fee is $250 per session. Reservations must be made 30 days in advance.
A warning on the site notes that people with “stiff muscles” may struggle to wear the suit.
Toco explains why he chose a border collie
Toco’s original Border Collie suit is not available for visitors to wear. He previously shared why he chose this breed for his transformation.
“I like animals that walk on four legs, and I especially like cute animals,” he told Mynavi.
He also noted that long-haired dogs help disguise the human body shape.
“I wanted a realistic design, so I chose a breed that fit those criteria,” he added.
A one-of-a-kind experience for animal lovers
Toco’s venture has sparked curiosity and debate. Some admire his dedication, while others find it bizarre.
Regardless, Tocotoco Zoo offers an experience unlike any other—where visitors can briefly step into the paws of a dog.
