The video has the caption: ‘DANGER: DO NOT TOW WITH A CYBERTRUCK,’ highlighting one of the pain points of the Tesla Cybertruck, which is its towing capabilities.

His warning came after conducting a test on the truck’s towing performance, which he claims revealed some critical flaws.

On his YouTube channel, he showed how the towing test reveals serious issues with the Cybertruck’s design.

In his video, JerryRigEverything explains that he initially trusted the vehicle’s advertised 11,000 lb towing capacity.

However, he quickly realized that the Cybertruck’s design may not be suited for heavy-duty towing.

Additionally, this design flaw became evident during a torture test, where the tow hitch snapped off entirely. While the test was extreme, it raised concerns about whether the Cybertruck can handle the towing loads Tesla promises.

The Cybertruck’s towing capacity and material limitations

The Cybertruck is advertised with a towing capacity of 11,000 lbs (4,990 kg) and a tongue weight limit of 1,100 lbs (499 kg). However, the cast aluminum frame and hitch have limitations that may not make them suitable for heavy towing.

He said: “I just assumed and trusted the 11,000 lb towing capacity that Tesla gave us,” Jerry described. “But I should have known from when Elon [Musk] put the infinity sign next to towing at the launch event that Tesla was not taking towing seriously.”

However,.JerryRigEverything expresses doubt about the strength of aluminum for towing, particularly when compared to steel.

“I trust steel to tow my truck, but not aluminum, especially not cast aluminum,” he remarked.

The video quickly went viral and sparked debate among viewers.

Many viewers reacted to JerryRigEverything’s warning with skepticism and humor. Some questioned the material choice, with one commenter joking about the vehicle’s “spontaneous disassembly.” Others criticized the design, suggesting it may prioritize style over substance.

One person said: Pretty much anyone buying one are doing it to look cool. Sensible people who need a truck for work and to do a job will have a proper diesel powered truck.

A second wrote: So its an $80,000 truck that can’t go off road, can’t handle snow and can’t tow stuff… Brilliant.

While a third commented: Guys that buy cyber trucks aren’t the ones that typically have anything to haul.

Another added: Quit calling it a truck! If it can’t tow or perform well off road it’s not a truck!

Cybertruck’s durability and limitations in real-world use

Despite the Cybertruck’s claim of being a bulletproof and durable vehicle, no truck is invincible. JerryRigEverything notes that several Cybertrucks have had their hitches fail, highlighting the vehicle’s potential flaws in real-world conditions.

He also points out that his team has stopped using their Cybertruck for towing due to the risk of hitch failure.
