On social media, many viewers stunned after Ex-McDonald’s chef reveals reason all-day breakfast was axed.
McDonald’s fans were devastated when the fast-food giant stopped offering all-day breakfast. Now, a ex-McDonald’s chef explains why.
The real reason behind McDonald’s decision to end to all-day breakfast
On Tiktok platform, Mike Haracz, a former McDonald’s chef who worked with the company until 2019, recently revealed why all-day breakfast was axed.
In a TikTok video, Haracz (@chefmikeharacz) responded to a comment that suggested the pandemic was the cause of the menu change.
Haracz clarified, “I bet McDonald’s is happy you think the pandemic killed all-day breakfast, but that’s not what happened.”
According to Haracz, the decision to end all-day breakfast was made “well before” the pandemic started.
McDonald’s all-day brekfast was operationally complex
In a viral video, Haracz explained that the decision was due to the operational challenges of running all-day breakfast.
Breakfast items required different kitchen equipment and resources than those used for lunch and dinner.
This meant that the kitchen had to divide its resources between different food items.
“It was operationally complex,” Haracz said. The limited space and equipment made it difficult for McDonald’s to serve all menu items efficiently, especially during peak hours.
Additionally, Haracz added that despite customer demand for all-day breakfast, McDonald’s decided to prioritize profitability and operational efficiency.
According to him, McDonald’s owners and operators didn’t want to continue offering the breakfast menu.
“Consumers will show up regardless, and if they don’t get the limited-time item they want, they’ll just order their regular food,” Haracz said. “McDonald’s wanted to be as profitable as possible.”

On social media, many fans disagreed with McDonald’s decision.
In the comments, people shared their frustration, stating that they visited McDonald’s more frequently when all-day breakfast was available.
One person said: Yeah my local McDonald’s took like 15 mins every time I ordered breakfast. I knew they hated when I did.
A second wrote: McDonald’s breakfast is so much better than their regular food. They should just serve breakfast all the time.
While a third commented: If they want to concentrate solely on drive-thru why are the things customers want only in the inside menu
Another added: i rather have breakfast all day than those burgers
Someone else said: Well thanks for ruining my dream of it coming back.
McDonald’s official statement on the removal of all-day breakfast
In 2020, McDonald’s posted on X (formerly Twitter) that they had initially removed all-day breakfast to “simplify operations” in the kitchen.
The company stated that this change improved speed of service and order accuracy for customers.
McDonald’s also mentioned that they were “evaluating if and how we will bring all-day breakfast back” to the menu.
While the removal of all-day breakfast disappointed many, McDonald’s decision was driven by the need to simplify operations and maximize efficiency.
