A stunning tribute to Lionel Messi has been unveiled at the Miami Concours, showcasing a Pagani Zonda made entirely from golden coins.
This one-of-a-kind masterpiece is a true homage to the iconic sports car and the legendary soccer player, blending automotive craftsmanship with artistic flair.
The Pagani Zonda is a legendary car
The Pagani Zonda is one of the most exclusive sports cars in the world. Only 140 of these vehicles have ever been produced by the Italian manufacturer. The rarity and luxury of the Zonda have made it a highly coveted model among car collectors worldwide.
Despite the limited production, Jorge Gomez, a car collector, and Uruguayan artist Joaquin Arbiza decided to create a new version of the Zonda—this time, entirely made from coins.
The art piece created from 100,000 coins
Gomez, who once owned one of the original Zonda supercars, commissioned the unique art piece to fill the void left after selling his car in 2021. The car was sold to fund his electrical material enterprise’s new factory.
The replica Zonda was unveiled at the Miami Concours during Art Week’s Cars & Coffee event.
The artwork was meticulously crafted from 100,000 Uruguayan $2 coins, with 500,000 soldering points used to secure the pieces.
While this coin-powered Zonda doesn’t boast a top speed of 200 mph like the original, it is a visual masterpiece.
The body, wheels, brake disks, and even the wing mirrors are flawless, with the intricate coinwork continuing seamlessly throughout.
Why this Zonda is a tribute to Lionel Messi
The artistic Zonda is not just a car replica—it’s also a tribute to Lionel Messi. Jorge Gomez is a passionate soccer fan, and his admiration for Messi is well-known.
While, the arrival of Messi at Inter Miami, along with other stars like Luis Suarez, likely deepened Gomez’s respect for the legendary player.
Messi himself is a fan of the Zonda. He owns a rare Tricolore edition, one of the finest versions of the Pagani Zonda.
The coin-crafted Zonda will eventually make its way to Gomez’s garage, where it will undoubtedly become a conversation starter for years to come.
Social media reaction
Not only does it honor the iconic sports car, but it also pays homage to one of the greatest soccer players of all time, Lionel Messi. The coin-crafted Zonda will continue to captivate fans of both art and automobiles alike.
Many fans also admire when their idol is honored with a tribute.
One person said: What do you know about the Goat of football
A second wrote: The rich get richer and the poor get poorer
While a third commented: Actually it’s not made “entirely” out of gold coins. The engine and trans, rubber tires, since the last I remember gold is not rubber, the list goes on.
Another added: proof that immense wealth is in inverse proportion to good taste
Someone else said: That’s about one of the most arrogant and foolish things I have ever seen. Golden Idols.
