Woman slammed during job interview after asking time blindness question

Sarah had just finished a job interview at a trade school when she decided to ask a question she thought was important.

She wanted to know if the school provides support for people who struggle with being on time.

Sarah believed her question was reasonable and relevant, especially since many people face challenges with time management.

However, the response she received was shocking.

Instead of a thoughtful answer, the interviewer raised their voice.

They told Sarah that accommodations for time blindness do not exist.

The interviewer also suggested that if she had trouble being on time, she would never be able to get a job.

This reaction left Sarah feeling hurt and upset.

“I am applying to go somewhere and I just wanted to know are there accommodations for people who struggle with time blindness and being on time, you know.

“And then the person that I was with interrupted and acted like I was asking something else and

then when we were done they actually started yelling at me and saying accommodations for time blindness don’t exist

and if you struggle being on time you will never be able to get a job – you know, provided you are trying your absolute best to be there.

“And then they’re like, your stupid generation wants to destroy the workplace.”

Understanding time blindness term

Time blindness is often associated with ADHD, a condition that affects both children and adults.

Those with ADHD may find it hard to keep track of time or plan their tasks efficiently. This can lead to difficulties in work and daily life.

However, Sarah felt that her question was dismissed without consideration for those who truly struggle.

I’m tired of workers’ rights not being prioritized in this country. And we’re entitled for suggesting it should be different… I don’t think so. #workersrights #employeerights #workers #capitalismsucks #capitalism #thesystemisbroken #fyp

Social media reactions

After sharing her story, Sarah received mixed reactions from viewers.

Some people agreed with her. They expressed sympathy and said that it is essential to create a more understanding workplace.

Others, however, took a different stance. Some say time blindness isn’t an excuse and advocate better time management.

One user said: Well at 62…I remember when I got my first real job at 15 they called time blindness irresponsibility and laziness…how times have changed

The second user wrote: As diagnosed with ADHD, i’ve never been late to work and yes i have to prepare myself 3h ago,

and so people who try to excuse themselves with ADHD is just an insult for the others who struggle too but make it in time

The third user said: I have ADHD… and time blindness. But I set up a system that gets me there on time… Multiple alarms. Prepping the weekend before, etc. Get a routine going

Another user commented: Dude I just cannot with you if you are constantly late and don’t just admit and own it or change it. It’s giving whine.
