On social media, many viewers stunned after viral video captured moment showing skeleton of serpent the size of cargo ship on Google Earth.

Viral video claims to show giant snake skeleton on Google Earth

A video on TikTok has left viewers unsettled. It appears to show a massive snake skeleton lying on a beach in France.

The footage, posted in March 2022 by user @googlemapsfun, quickly gained traction.

It has amassed over seven million views. The video is titled “Creepiest Things Google Maps Recorded.”

However, it went viral again after a user shared it on Reddit, sparking speculation about a prehistoric Titanoboa.

The video claims the skeleton is around 30 meters long. It suggests the remains could belong to a Titanoboa, a prehistoric serpent.

“Hidden on Google Earth, users believe this to be a giant snake. It’s about 30 meters long and bigger than any snake caught before,” the voiceover states.

Social media reaction 

The video quickly went viral and sparked debate among viewers. 

In the comment selection, Many viewers supported the claim, theorizing it could be an ancient creature.

While others speculated about undiscovered species still lurking today.

One person said: There’s no giant snake skeleton in France. its art and its awesome.

A second wrote: It’s look a giant snake skeleton. Wow!

While a third commented: From an overhead sky view, it really looks like an ancient creature! Amazing!

However, not everyone fell for the viral claim. Several users quickly pointed out the truth.

“The serpent in France is a recent artwork made by Huang Yong Ping. You can visit it. Nothing weird here,” one user commented.

Another added, “The snake is a work of art. It’s made by humans, nothing special.”

The truth behind the mysterious skeleton

Despite the wild theories, the skeleton is not real. It is actually an art installation named “Serpent d’océan.”

Chinese artist Huang Yong Ping created the massive artwork.

It rests on the beach of Saint-Brevin-les-Pins in France. The sculpture stretches nearly 425 feet in length.

According to Snopes.com, the structure was installed in 2012. The French website Loire Valley describes it as an evolving piece.

“Its skeleton appears with each tide, resembling an archaeological excavation. Its movement makes it look alive,” the site explains.

While the video fueled speculation, the truth is far less mysterious. The “Serpent d’océan” is an artistic masterpiece, not a prehistoric creature.

Although it may look eerie, it remains a stunning display of modern art.

The tides may make it seem alive, but no giant snake is lurking in France.
