Recently, a 37-year age gap couple has captured the attention of many as they joyfully hosted a gender reveal party for their first child together.
Their relationship challenges traditional norms, but they show that love knows no age limits.
At 63 years old, Cheryl McGregor never expected to be starting a family again.
However, Cheryl, a grandmother of 17, is gearing up to welcome her eighth child.
This time with her husband Quran McCain, who is 37 years her junior.
The couple met in 2012 but started dating in 2020.
They were excited after learning the baby was a girl
They recently hosted an extravagant gender reveal party to celebrate their upcoming baby.
Surrounded by loved ones, Cheryl and Quran popped colored smoke cannons to unveil that they were having a baby girl.
“We were so overjoyed to find out we’re having a daughter,” beamed Cheryl.
“This baby is a true blessing, and we can’t wait to meet her.”
Their unconventional relationship has drawn its fair share of criticism and judgment from the public.
With a 37-year age gap, many have accused Cheryl of dating her own grandchild.
But the couple remains steadfast in their love and commitment to one another.
“People on social media have a lot of hate for us. They say I’m dating my grandmother,” Quran, 26, has previously stated.
“I am not. She is younger than my grandmother. We are no different from any other couple – love is love.”
63-year-old grandma and her husband met each other over 10 years ago
Cheryl and Quran first crossed paths over a decade ago when Quran was a customer at the restaurant where Cheryl worked.
Though they felt an instant connection, it wouldn’t be until years later that they reconnected and decided to take a chance on romance.
Our family was hesitant at first, for the same reasons as everyone else,” Cheryl admitted.
“But now five of my children have come to accept the idea, and my mother-in-law and I make videos together.
We have a lot of support,” she said.
The happy couple wed in 2021 and quickly set out to start a family of their own.
After multiple unsuccessful attempts, they turned to surrogacy to find a baby.
“We understand that I may not be there for as long as the Quran is, but I have faith in him,” Cheryl shared.
“If I am not here, he can do it. He’s gonna be a great father, he’s a responsible adult.
I had every bit of faith that he could raise our child, and do it very well.”
“We get a lot of hate, but it doesn’t phase us. At the end of the day, we still got each other, and that’s all that matters,” Quran affirmed.
