Trump reverses showerhead water pressure
President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday to reverse federal regulations that limit water flow in household appliances.
The order specifically targets showerheads, dishwashers, and sinks.
Titled an effort to “Make America’s Showers Great Again,” it removes detailed technical rules introduced during the Obama administration and reinstated under Joe Biden.
Trump claims these regulations have made everyday life unnecessarily frustrating for Americans.
“Overregulation chokes the American economy and stifles personal freedom. A small but meaningful example is the Obama-Biden war on showers,” Trump wrote in the executive order.
The executive oeder seeks to restore water flow standards to 1992 levels
Under the new directive, the Department of Enegy will revert household water flow regulations back to the 2.5-gallon-per-minute standard that has been in place since 1992.
That standard was loosened during Trump’s first term, but reinstated by President Biden after taking office.
Trump criticized the federal definitions surrounding the term “showerhead,”.
He also argured that bureaucrats had overcomplicated something ordinary Americans use every day.
“To the extent any definition is necessary for this common piece of hardware, the Oxford English Dictionary defines ‘showerhead’ in one short sentence,” Trump wrote, calling the Biden-Obama rule “multi-thousand-word” red tape.
Additionally, Trump directed Energy Secretary Chris Wright to ‘immediately rescind’ certain regulations. He described these rules, which govern household appliances based on environmental impact, as ‘overly complicated.’
Trump says weak water pressure runied his shower experience and his hair.
Speaking at the executive order signing, Trump described his personal frustration with low-flow showerheads, even tying it to his famously styled blond hair.
“In my case, I like to take a nice shower, take care of my beautiful hair,” he said. “I have to stand in the shower for 15 minutes until it gets wet. Comes out drip, drip, drip. It’s ridiculous.”
The White House followed with a statement defending the rollback as a victory for common sense.
“The Order frees Americans from excessive regulations that turned a basic household item into a bureaucratic nightmare,” it said. “No longer will showerheads be weak and worthless.”
White House accuses prior administrations of pushing a ‘Radical Green Agenda’
According to the administration’s statement, the regulations imposed by the Obama and Biden administrations were part of a ‘radical green agenda.’
This agenda, it claimed, created obstacles for regular households. The White House argued that multi-nozzle showers became illegal under the previous rules. While, the new executive order restores consumer choice.
“No market failure justifies this intrusion,” the statement read.
“Americans pay for their own water and should be free to choose their showerheads without federal meddling.”
