Previously, Gun’s breakdance performance was shared on social media and sparked debate on social media.

A user, who goes by @a_txcllctr87033 , shared a video with caption:

“Raygun, I’m sure you’re a sweet lady, but man…”

The video captured Raygun’s performance with awkward movements, leaving viewers baffled.

Raygun’s performance featured unique elements, such as hopping like a kangaroo.

Additionally, she performed the sprinkler dance move, which was intended to reflect her Australian heritage.

Despite the effort and creativity she brought to the stage, she did not receive any votes from the judges.

The routine ended with a perplexing moment as she squirmed on the dance floor, hand on her chin.

With her performance, Raygun then faced to criticism at Paris 2024 Olympics

According to MGbility, the comparative judging system used in breaking involves five criteria. Competitors are evaluated based on these criteria.

Although Raygun’s performance was original and representative of Australia, it did not reach the level of her competitors.

Family backlash against judges after Raygun’s performance received a score of zero.

Following Rachael Gunn’s disappointing performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics, she lost all three of her round-robin battles with a combined score of 54-0.

Addionally. her father-in-law, Andrew Free, has voiced his frustrations. The outcome has sparked significant controversy.

Free, who is also the father of Gunn’s husband and coach, Samuel Free, took to social media to express his discontent with the judges.

In his social media posts, Raygun’s family member, Free, criticized the judging criteria.

He also alleged that the panel favored a particular style of breaking that did not align with Gunn’s approach.

He contended that the judges were responsible for evaluating five aspects: Technique, Execution, Musicality, Originality, and Vocabulary.

According to him, Gunn’s originality and musicality were not adequately recognized. This lack of acknowledgment was a major point of frustration.

He wrote: ‘It was a pretty stacked competition and the judges were clearly looking for a certain style of breaking which is not Rachael’s,’ he said on social media.

‘Although they are supposed to mark five different aspects with each having the same weighting, in my obviously biased opinion they did not reward originality and musicality so she was up against it.

‘The main thing is she represented Australia and breaking at the Olympics with courage and dignity.’
