On social media, many viewers speculated that Trump was referring to Elon Musk after he roasted a ‘seriously overweight’ friend over using a ‘fat shot drug.

President Donald Trump took a swipe at a “seriously overweight” friend during a White House speech on prescription drug prices.

He mocked the friend’s reliance on a “fat shot drug.”

The remark quickly sparked internet speculation that the unnamed friend was Elon Musk.

Trump mocked a neurotic, overweight businessman taking a popular weight loss drug

During the signing, Trump shifted into storytelling mode.

He shared a conversation with a friend he described as a “very, very top guy” and a “brilliant, highly neurotic businessman” who is also “seriously overweight.”

According to Trump, the friend had recently called him from London.

The friend complained about the high cost of a weight loss drug in the U.S. compared to the U.K.

Trump used the story to highlight pricing disparities in prescription drugs.

Trumo said to the reporter, “A friend of mine who’s a businessman—very, very, very top guy, most of you would have heard of him—a highly neurotic, brilliant businessman, seriously overweight, and he takes the fat shot.'”

Trump’s humorous jab aimed at exposing America’s drug price crisis

During his speech, Trump said his friend was “a brilliant, neurotic, seriously overweight businessman” who called him in frustration from London.

He added: “And he called me up … he’s a rough guy, smart guy, very successful, very rich … ‘Mr President, could I ask you a question? I’m in London, and I just paid for this damn fat drug I take”.

The businessman reportedly said, “I just paid $88 in London. In New York, I pay \$1,300. What the hell’s going on?”

Trump continued, “It’s the same box, same pill, same factory, but Americans pay 15 times more. That’s insane.”

He claimed a drug executive finally admitted defeat, saying, “You got me. I can’t justify the price gap anymore.”

Trump used the story to underscore what he called the **“criminal pricing system”** in the American pharmaceutical industry.

The internet exploded with theories about who Trump was referring to.

The name Elon Musk quickly began trending across social media platforms.

Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has been the subject of similar speculation before.

He has previously admitted to using Mounjaro, a diabetes medication popular for weight loss.

Some users were skeptical, questioning whether Musk was even in London at the time of the call.

Still, Trump’s descriptions — “neurotic,” “successful,” “overweight,” and “rich” — led many to believe Musk fit the profile a little too perfectly.

One person said: Elon Musk has admitted to taking the ‘fat shot drug.’ Is Trump talking about him?

A second wrote: Hilarious that Trump said, ‘It’s not working.’ Elon must be furious,” another joked.

While a third commented: Poor Musk.

Another added: It’s HIMSELF..LOL

Someone else said: I heard the remarks he made, and he was in no way disrespecting his friend, or anyone’s weight.

Beyond the humor, Trump used the story to underscore his criticism of the American pharmaceutical pricing system.

His executive order promises to reduce drug prices by 30 to 80 percent.

It cited unjustified international price disparities for identical medications.

“I said, ‘It’s not working,’” Trump joked, before adding ‘He said, ‘I just paid $88 and in New York I pay $1,300. What the hell is going on? So I checked, and it’s the same box made in the same plant by the same company. It’s the identical pill that I buy in New York. And here I’m paying $88 in London, and in New York, I’m paying $1,300.'”

The issue of prescription drug affordability has become a key part of Trump’s 2024 campaign message.

Additionally, it aligns with his “America First” approach to healthcare reform.

This order could be one of the most consequential of his term, Trump claimed in a recent Truth Social post. As is typical with Trump, his off-the-cuff humor drew mixed reactions online.

Some praised his relatability and candor. While, others criticized him for body-shaming and veering off-topic during a serious policy announcement.

Still, supporters argued that the humor helped draw attention to a major healthcare crisis.

They said using real-world examples highlighted the disparity in global medication pricing.
