Can you spot the hidden moth? Test our “sniper vision” with this optical illusion in this picture.
Optical illusions have a unique ability to deceive our senses, often playing tricks on how our brain interprets color, light, and patterns.
These illusions force us to question what we’re truly seeing versus what’s actually in front of us.
One particularly challenging image, shared on Reddit’s r/FindtheSniper thread.
This left viewers baffled, as it challenges you to spot a hidden moth camouflaged against a wall.
The hidden moth challenge
A test of visual acuity
The image in question is simple—a picture of a wall.
However, camouflaged on this surface is a moth, blending in so well that even sharp-eyed viewers have struggled to locate it.
The image was posted with the caption: “Moth landed on my wall and vanished. Can you find the moth?”
For many, this optical illusion proved to be a real challenge, leaving them scratching their heads.
One Redditor expressed their confusion, commenting: “That’s a wall!?” Another admitted to being perplexed, saying: “I’m wigging out man.”
This picture quickly went viral and sparked debate a mong viewers.
If you’re feeling stumped, you’re not alone. Many users shared similar frustrations.
While someother even lost their minds after finding to the hidden moth in the picture.
One person said: Still can’t find it
A second wrote: This one took me a little bit, this moth blended in really well with the wall, that’s some great camouflage. This is a really good picture. I had fun finding the moth.
While a third commented: Outside wall…. I get it, it looks like the floor… but that guy is well camouflaged…
Lmao pure luck I decide to zoom in and there it was. Another added.
Someone else said: Moth is in lower left quadrant. Starting at bottom left corner, go to the right about 25% of picture width and then go up 25% of picture height.
However, one user, after successfully finding the moth, offered some helpful advice: “The moth is in the lower left quadrant. Starting at the bottom left corner, go to the right about 25% of the picture width and then go up 25% of the picture height.”
Even with these instructions, locating the moth can still be quite the challenge due to its near-perfect camouflage.
The original poster admitted to panicking when the moth disappeared into the pebbledash wall.
“As someone who is uncomfortable around moths, when it just disappeared before my eyes, I panicked a little bit,” they shared, demonstrating how convincing the illusion can be.
Another optical illusion: The camouflaged copperhead snake
More challenges for keen eyes to find the snake.
If the hidden moth challenge wasn’t tough enough, the r/FindtheSniper thread offers even more optical illusions.
One such post features a copperhead snake camouflaged in a wooded area.
The user who posted the image captioned it: “Find the copperhead,” and explained, “Tossed this little guy out into the woods after I stumbled on him during some landscaping at the house.”
Much like the moth, this snake proved difficult for many to spot. One viewer humorously comments.
However, a more experienced “snake sniper” was able to point out the location: “The copperhead is in the bottom left-hand corner. But you gotta keep your eyes sharp! He’s almost completely hidden!”
