In the puzzle book designed for children aged four to six, there is a page that features picture clues for four-letter words. Your mission is to work out the four-letter word based on the picture. Adding to the puzzle's intrigue, a smug-looking crescent moon illustration sits conveniently to the right of the puzzle, providing a helpful clue.
However, children's puzzle that seems super easy is leaving adults stumped at how to solve it. Is it as simple as "moon"?
In this picture, you’ll see that while the initial clues indicate the letters M, O, and O with corresponding pictures of a monkey, an octopus, and an olive, respectively, the last clue appears to be a picture of a daffodil.
Despite the possibility of the word being "mood," the presence of a cheerful, smiling moon surrounded by stars adds to the perplexity.
The parent, stumped and posted on Reddit, asked, : “Am I being thick? Children’s book age 4-6. Last box is supposedly ‘N’. Mrs thinks it’s ‘Narcissus’ but I think that’s a bit much for the age range…”
Some Reddit users were equally perplexed by the puzzle and joined in the discussion. Users online also agreed that the puzzle was a head-scratcher, even for adults.
For those who aren’t horticulturally aware, the Latin name for daffodil is ‘Narcissus’, indicating that the man's partner may be correct in her interpretation.
However, it was acknowledged that this level of complexity might exceed the vocabulary of an average four-year-old.
One user humorously questioned if the book was intended for children who shop at Waitrose, asking, 'Is this a book for children who shop at Waitrose?'
One person commented: Having seen the general public over the past few years I can confirm they are in fact not smarter than a five year old
