One person said: I've seen a lot of these, but I was not stunned because I'm not an American.

A second commented: Funniest thing was as I was stood having a pee, a lady came over thinking it was a hand wash

A third wrote: Why does it look like it's right in the open and everyone can look at you peeing?

Another: I am South African and was shocked to see them for the first time in France too!!

To the surprise of some Redditors, the men using these urinals have their backs to the public. However, many European users pointed out that it is not an unusual sight to see a pop-up loo in some cities.

These particular toilets are manufactured by the German company Toi Toi & Dixi, which specializes in "mobile, connection-free sanitary solutions" and are often used for significant events.

They even come equipped with four integrated dispensers for hand disinfection, making them user-friendly, according to the company's website.

While many still prefer the traditional privacy provided by bathroom stalls with walls and doors when using public toilets, others praised the 'way better' idea of going to the toilet.

Another said: They had these at DEFCON 1 Sydney in like 2012.

Someone else said: Wait till you go to France and see a patisserie, might not be spent like that, but it's a urinal in the middle of the street, got a luv the French.

Another said: That's a good design.

Other added: Yes.. and? If you need to pee. It's ideal plus it doesn't take much room.
