Being called 'ugly' by potential adopters, the shelter dog can't understand why no one wants to adopt her

Despite wagging her tail in a friendly manner at every passerby for over a month, the puppy was not noticed by anyone who could be the rightful owner.

Sadly, the pup was unaware of the comments visitors made about the two cysts under her eyes that were the size of pom-poms.

According to a Facebook post by OCAS, the cysts do not affect the puppy in any way, except for people's perception of her.

The shelter staff is troubled by the hurtful comments made about her appearance, such as "She looks so ugly" and "What's wrong with her? She'll never get adopted."

Despite the staff's efforts to showcase Dutchess's sweet nature and find her a loving family, the dog remained at the center for a long time.

According to OCAS, Dutchess's affectionate personality made it all the more heartbreaking that she hadn't been adopted yet.

Every day, she would eagerly run up to the kennel doors, excited for a new day and optimistic about finding her forever home.

Within 48 hours of the post about Dutchess on Facebook, someone from Rescue Dogs Dream, Inc. (RDD) noticed and took her to a foster home, which was a success for the shelter's efforts.

After Dutchess was taken to a foster home, Rescue Dogs Dream, Inc. (RDD) received numerous adoption inquiries.

Eventually, the perfect match was found for her – a family who had recently lost one of their pets and was searching for the right fit. Before heading to her new home, Dutchess had to see a vet to have cysts under her eyes checked.

The vet recommended removing the cysts, which were not dangerous but obscured her vision and caused discomfort. RDD shared the update on Facebook.

After undergoing surgery to remove the cysts under her eyes, Dutchess, who was renamed Lena, spent a few hours recovering at her foster home before being picked up by her new family.

Despite still needing time to fully heal, Lena quickly bonded with her new parents and canine siblings and had many happy moments with her loving family.

The shelter staff and volunteers were thrilled to see Lena finally find her forever home and receive the love she deserved. It's a heartwarming ending to a sweet dog's journey that we should share with our loved ones.
