A Cybertruck owner claims to have resolved a common issue with the vehicle’s appearance by giving it a complete polish.
A Cybertruck owner in Missouri has found a creative solution to a common problem that many owners face with their vehicles.
Since the Tesla Cybertruck was released in late 2023, users have reported several issues.
One of the most talked-about problems is how easily fingerprints show up on the brushed stainless-steel surface.
The Cybertruck features a unique design and materials.
The Tesla Cybertruck is unlike any other vehicle on the market.
Its unique design and materials have attracted a lot of attention.
However, the vehicle has also faced criticism for various problems.
Some owners have complained about issues like loose accelerator pedals and signs of rust on the body.
These concerns have made some potential buyers hesitant, even though the Cybertruck is sold out until 2027.
The Cybertruck easily shows fingerprints on surfaces.
One of the specific challenges with the Cybertruck is its tendency to show fingerprints.
The vehicle does not have traditional door handles. Instead, owners must press a button to open the doors.
This design leads to fingerprints accumulating on the surface, especially where drivers and passengers touch the vehicle.
If these marks are not cleaned regularly, the oils from hands can get trapped in the porous material.
Cybertruck owner claims he’s avoided vehicle’s key aesthetic issue with a full polish
Tyson Garvin, the owner of a Cybertruck, received his vehicle in April 2024 after waiting five years since placing his order.
However, he was not satisfied with its appearance right away.
He described the delivery experience as disappointing, noting that the truck looked dirty and the finish was uneven.
“I didn’t like it when I first got it,” he said.
“It was actually very dirty when I picked it up. It was a very bad delivery experience. And just the look of it — the dull stainless steel isn’t evenly brushed.”
Feeling frustrated, Garvin decided to take action to improve the look os his Cybertruck.
He reached out to Brylee Waits, who owns a car polishing company.
While Waits usually does not work with stainless-steel electric vehicles, he agreed to help Garvin polish the Cybertruck to eliminate the fingerprint problem.
The polishing job was no small task.
It took Waits and his team about 120 hours to completely polish the Cybertruck.
This extensive work transformed the dull and uneven surface into a shiny, smooth finish.
Garvin was thrilled with the results after receiving his truck back.
He noted that the new polish made it much easier to keep the vehicle clean.
According to Garvin, the polished surface does not hold onto oils and fingerprints like the original stainless steel.
He explained, “The more you clean it, the shinier it gets.”
This change has allowed him to enjoy his Cybertruck without worrying about constant cleaning.
Garvin proves polishing the Cybertruck is possible despite common beliefs
Garvin also mentioned that he had seen many discussions online about whether polishing the Cybertruck was possible.
Many people believed that the type of stainless steel used in the manufacturing process would prevent effective polishing.
However, Garvin’s experience showed that this was not the case.
He encouraged others to try polishing their vehicles if they faced similar issues.
“Most people said you couldn’t because of certain kinds of stainless steel used in the manufacturing process, but none of that mattered.
“They just didn’t know any better.”
Social media reactions
Since Garvin’s polishing, Waits has received many inquiries from other Cybertruck owners seeking the same service.
He now has four more trucks lined up for polishing, thanks to the buzz created by Garvin’s experience.
Well someone thought of doing something dumber than actually buying one, one user said.
Being reflective like that makes it harder to see. He runs a greater risk of an accident, the second user wrote.
Great now you only have to solve the problem of it not being able to go to a car wash and the headlights not working in the snow, the third user commented.
He’s likely to get a ticket due to the reflection can blind people, another user said.
Basically making it look like something it isn’t. Deserves a medal, how to make something less ugly.
Miracle worker, though there surely is better things to attempt miracles than a cyber truck, someone said.
