The second season of FXX’s Dave has a premiere date. The television comedy is loosely based on rapper and comedian Dave Burd, a.k.a., Lil Dicky, who plays a young, neurotic, up-and-coming rapper who is convinced that he is one of the greatest and strives to achieve his goal to become a legend while balancing his relationships. The series is created and executive produced by Burd and Jeff Schaffer and also stars Taylor Misiak, GaTa, Andrew Santino, Travis Bennett, and Christine Ko, while the show also features many guest appearances like Justin Bieber, Charlamagne tha God, Young Thug, and Kourtney Kardashian.
Now Deadline reports that season 2 of Dave will premiere its first two episodes on June 16 on FXX and be available to stream via FX on Hulu the next day. The second season will add a new roster of guest stars that include Hailey Bieber, Kendall Jenner, Lil Nas X, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Kevin Hart. Hart also executive produces the series. Burd comments that the second season will explore more of his character’s path of balancing his career and personal life. His full statement can be read below:
Dave is trying to finish an album and it’s psychological chaos…My character in the show is going through that journey of putting an album out and keep his personal life afloat. It’s more psychological and interpersonal and I feel this season really ties together.
Burd, unlike his character on the show, is already a successful rapper, releasing numerous hit singles and music videos and has collaborated with Snoop Dogg, Chris Brown, and Brendon Urie. Dave has already proven to be a ratings hit, surpassing Atlanta, a show also about a man trying to make it in the rap business, as the network’s highest-rated comedy. Fans of the show can look forward to the second season very soon and see what the series has in store.
