Elon Musk’s 79-year-old father, known for his unpredictable nature, has made a startling accusation about his son’s former partner, musician Claire Boucher, better known as Grimes.
He alleges that the musician wanted to tattoo their child’s head in the latest interview.
Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher, shares three children with the billionaire.
Their children are X Æ A-Xii, age four, Exa Dark Sideræl, age three, and Techno Mechanicus, age two. The youngest child is reportedly called Tau by his parents.

In an exclusive interview, Errol Musk claims that Boucher once intended to tattoo one of their children while still an infant.
‘She wanted to tattoo the baby’s head… when he was a baby. Put a tattoo on his head. You don’t do that. She is a little nuts,’ claimed Errol in a sit-down interview in his South Africa home.
However, he has not provided any proof for his allegations.
Additionally, The Daily Mail-affiliated Mail Online also stated that Grimes had not responded to a request for comment.
The ongoing custody battle between Musk and Grimes
Previously,Errol Musk’s comments come amid an ongoing custody battle between his son and Grimes.
The two have sued each other for the right to care for their children.
In August, Business Insider reported that the case had been settled in Texas.
However, details of the resolution were not disclosed. Newsweek has not been able to independently confirm the settlement.
Grimes had also countersued in California. The current status of that case remains unclear. Neither Elon Musk nor Grimes has publicly commented on the custody battle’s reported conclusion.
Grimes’ history with body modifications
Grimes is known for her unique image and love of tattoos. She has previously expressed interest in body modifications, including elf ear surgery.
“I just really love all the permanent mods I have, especially the extreme ones like my giant tattoos,” she once said. “I felt immediately more at home in my body feeling less boring.”
Elon Musk tried to talk her out of the ear surgery. In 2022, she voiced her concerns about complications.
Musk responded on Twitter, now called X, stating, “The downside of elf ear surgery probably outweighs the upside.”
Did Errol Musl misinterpret a joke
Errol Musk has now taken things further. He claims that Grimes wanted to modify their children’s bodies as well. According to the Mail Online, he said, “She wanted to tattoo the baby’s head […] You don’t do that. She is a little nuts.”
The publication noted that Musk had made similar claims before. In October 2024, he told British broadcaster Andrew Eborn that Grimes wanted to tattoo X’s head.
He also said his son would have hated the idea because he does not have tattoos himself.
However, there is speculation that Errol Musk misunderstood a joke. In May 2020, Elon Musk shared the first picture of X online.
The photo had a filter applied, making it look like the baby had face tattoos, including the word “savage” under one eye.
Some believe Errol Musk took this joke too seriously.
During the interview, Errol Musk also made other accusations against Grimes. He has criticized her music and called it “terrible.” He also blamed her for giving his grandchildren “very weird” names.
