Peace Ridge Sanctuary has a 3-year-old pig named Angus, belonging to the Mangalitsa breed, which has attracted a lot of attention because it is very special. Angus is often called a sheep pig because of its sheep-like coat and dog-like disposition.
In 2018, Angus pigs were rescued by staff from the Maine Animal Protection Program (USA). Fortunately, due to the excellent living environment, the pigs did not take long to adapt to the new home and gained weight rapidly.
"When he was first brought here, Angus worried us because he was in poor health. But now he's a big, bossy pig," said sanctuary director Melissa Andrews.
As adults, Angus' fur is up to 10 centimeters long, curly and stiff, and looks more like a sheep or bear than a pig.
Andrew said: “Angus lives on the same block as two other pigs. He loves sleeping next to his two best friends at night and going on adventures with his best friend Wilbur.
Wilbur was a good pig until Angus showed up and the pig was like 'You wanna mess around, man? '.
Mangalitsa is a rare pig breed that originated in Hungary. An odd feature is that it has a thick, shaggy coat that covers its body like sheep's wool.
