Rufus was rescued when he was just an eight-month-old joey, and he now lives with his adoptive mom, Kym Haywood, who runs the Patch Kangaroo Sanctuary in Boston.
Despite growing up, Rufus still maintains his love for the couch and even has his favorite spot on it. Every evening, he makes his way through the back door just to have a chill-out session on the couch while watching TV.
However, getting Rufus to go to bed can be a challenge for Kym, as Rufus loves staying in his favorite position. Video footage shows Rufus slumping onto the sofa and burying his head when Kym tells him it's time to sleep.
Despite the efforts of his human owners to lure him off the couch with grapes, Rufus the kangaroo is smart enough to accept the treats but promptly flops back down onto the sofa.
His owners have given up trying to reclaim their space on the couch and simply move further away as Rufus grows in size.
It seems that the couch spot where Rufus loves to relax is completely his own. When visitors come to their house, his owners make it clear that no one is allowed to sit in Rufus's spot, as it is reserved exclusively for him.
Rufus's adoptive parents, Kym and Neil, have gladly given up their own couch space for the comfort of their beloved kangaroo, who has been a part of their family since he was just eight months old.
They don't mind the sacrifice at all, as they adore Rufus and love spending time with him every day. When Rufus first started lounging on the couch, Kym and Neil thought it was the most adorable thing ever.
Rufus is certainly a unique kangaroo, as his love for the couch is unmatched. The couch seems to make him feel safe, which is why he spends so much time there.
Rufus doesn't just love lounging on the couch, he also enjoys watching television from his favorite spot and often falls asleep there. Despite their efforts to get Rufus to leave the couch, his human parents eventually gave up and instead covered it with mattress protectors to prevent any accidents.
Kym and Neil are more than happy to accommodate Rufus's preferences and always try to keep him happy. Sometimes, Rufus can get a bit cranky and will gently push his human parents off the couch when he wants some space for himself.
