Running a small store in Nuevo León, Mexico is Winy Juan Antonio Enriquez's profession. He has built a loyal customer base in his neighborhood, but there is one particular customer who stands out above the rest.
About a year ago, as Enriquez was closing up shop for the night, a stray dog timidly appeared at his door.
The dog looked up at Enriquez with pleading eyes, and he could tell that the dog was very hungry and poorly fed. Enriquez gave him some food, but the dog was very distrustful.
Over the following days and weeks, the stray dog would occasionally show up at Enriquez's store, always welcomed with a meal.
As time passed, the dog began to trust Enriquez more and more, even allowing him to touch and pet him. Enriquez named him Carlos.
Carlos now visits Enriquez's store regularly, coming every morning and night to receive a meal.
Enriquez is happy to provide for him, despite the cost, because he finds joy in seeing Carlos react to his kindness.
Enriquez does not know where Carlos goes or what he does in between visits, but he is content to fill his belly and make his tail wag. While he hopes to find Carlos a permanent home, he is happy to tend to his needs for the time being.
