Two young women found out they were twins after being sold into an illegal adoption ring, discovering the mastermind was their father.

The 21-year-old twins Ano Sartania and Tako Khvitia were split apart at birth. The sisters were reportedly sold into an illegal adoption ring.

One of them was recognized by a friend who saw it in a post as her own sister, though with different hair.

The Italian newspaper la Repubblica stated that twins Ano Sartania and Tako Khvitia, who are now 21 years old, were born on June 20, 2002, in Kirtski, Georgia.

Neither of them knew the other existence until they were 19 years old.

The twins had allegedly become victims of an adoption ring that for decades had been operating widely throughout the nation of less than four million people, selling kids to wealthy families, soon after the babies were born.

After giving birth to the twins, Aza Shoni, their biological mother, went into a coma for a few days, and then she was informed that her kids had passed away when she woke up.

The outlet stated that the twins' father, Gocha Gakharia had sold them to a black-market operation because he believed they were not his biological daughters.

Afterward, the twins were illegally adopted by two different families: Ano in the capital city of Tbilisi and Tako in the small town of Zugdidi, close to the Black Sea coastline.

Both of them tended to dance as children, and when Ano entered a dance competition at the age of eleven, someone in attendance reportedly noted the similarities, according to la Repubblica.

However, they didn't get back in touch until they were both in their late teens when Ano's friend showed her a TikTok video featuring a different woman who, aside from her blue hair, looked exactly like Ano.

Ano discovered her hair was not blue and searched for her doppelganger on the Georgian Facebook group 'Vedzeb', which has over 230,000 members.

In this group, numerous individuals recount nearly identical stories of being stolen from their original parents at birth under mysterious circumstances, or maybe even more horrifyingly, of having seemingly healthy babies removed from them in a hospital, only to learn later that their child had passed away.

Between the 1950s and 2000s, over 100,000 Georgian babies were illegally taken from their birth parents and sold to wealthy families for thousands or tens of thousands of dollars, while adoptive families were told they were orphaned.

"I always had this feeling that someone was following me everywhere I went, every day I had the same dream of a little girl, dressed in black, asking me questions about my daily routine," Ano said.

DNA tests proved the twins were his when they were reunited and more information about their surviving direct family members was obtained.

Ano claims that her father now desires a romantic relationship with them. "But it's not going to happen," she stated to la Repubblica.
