Wolfwalkers Trailer: Enter A Surreal World Of Bewitching 2D Animation

Apple TV+ unveil the trailer for Wolfwalkers at the NYCC 2020. The film will hit US theaters in November and arrive on the streamer in December.

At this year’s virtual New York Comic-Con, Apple TV+ dropped the official trailer for Wolfwalkers, an upcoming  animated film that will arrive on the streamer in December. Directed by Tomm Moore and Ross Stewart, with animations from The Secret of Kells studio, Cartoon Saloon, Wolfwakers first premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2020.

During the NYCC panel, Apple TV+ unveiled the trailer for Wolfwalkers, confirming that the film will arrive on Apple TV+, December 11, 2020, after premiering theatrically in the U.S. on November 13, 2020. Wolfwalkers follows novice hunter Robyn Goodfellowe as she travels to Ireland with her father in an era of superstition and magic to eliminate the last remaining pack of wolves. While in Ireland, Robyn trespasses the city’s boundary into a restricted area where she befriends a chary girl Mebh, who is rumored to hail from a mysterious tribe who transform into wolves at night. Robyn accompanies Mebh in searching for her missing mother, and as she takes on the quest, she stumbles upon the enchanted world of Wolfwalkers, risking her relationship with her father.

When Wolfwalkers premiered at the TIFF, it left critics in awe. It earned praise for stunning philosophical Indo-European narrative, stellar voice work, and mesmerizing 2-D style animation. And that isn’t too surprising given that the film comes from the Kilkenny-based studio Cartoon Saloon, which has received Best Animated Feature Film nominations at the Oscars for each of its first three films.

Wolkfwalkers theatrical debut is going to be of limited availability given the many COVID-19 induced cinema closures. Therefore, it’s quite likely that the gorgeous movie will end up become a real gem for Apple TV+, drawing unprecedented viewership for the streamer. Additionally, Apple TV+ will not have to promote the film extensively, as the movie has already created a lot of noise out of TIFF, and now fans are anxiously awaiting a convenient opportunity to savor the film.
