Woman furious after being laid off after completing all projects, despite company's promise ‘not to worry’ about layoffs

Tiktoker expressed her disappointment with her company due to the layoffs despite she finished all her projects.

TikTok user Eda (@edacyu) claims that she had to upload a video to "remind everybody that companies genuinely do not give a f*ck about you" following her layoff. As of Sunday, the video had received over 75,000 views.

In her video, she reveals that her company initially reassured her and her colleagues, instructing them "not to worry" about potential layoffs. However, shortly thereafter, the company proceeded to lay off her and numerous other employees

As Eda relates her layoff experience, the corporation ultimately let go of nearly 250 employees that they had "promised wouldn't need to be laid off last year."

“They had all of these people, all of my former co-workers, working super hard up until the last minute on these…imaginary deadlines and super tight turnaround projects,” Eda says.

“It turns out that they were doing that because they wanted the work done before they laid off everybody en masse.”

According to Eda, the corporation had not previously disclosed that it would be making layoffs.

“They said everything was good, the financials were good. We had no reason to worry," she recounted.

She claims that even in this case, being laid off together with others can teach valuable lessons about work-life balance and how one should interact with their employer.

“If you’re working late nights trying to make some imaginary deadline, or not taking a vacation, not taking care of your family, or spending time with loved ones because work tells you you have to, stop,” she declares.

“Do not listen to them…I will be the first to tell you that companies are gonna fire you even if you do all of those things for them," she concluded.

The video serves as a reminder of the uncertainties that employees may face in the workplace and the importance of open and honest communication with employers.

Most people who left comments in the comments area agreed with Eda's judgment.

After ten years of employment, my husband's director was fired via email while on paid time off, and his laptop was promptly locked out of his possession, one person commented.

Can't disagree. They expect you to give 100% while supplying you with the bare minimum. Pure toxicity, the second wrote.

Eda's story is not an isolated incident on the TikTok platform. Numerous users have shared their own layoff experiences, shedding light on the challenges faced by employees.

Some individuals have recounted being laid off on the eve of their scheduled vacations, while others have described being let go shortly after returning from maternity leave.

Additionally, one TikToker captured the chaos and disruption caused by a mass layoff during a Zoom meeting, highlighting the emotional impact on the affected employees.
