Jessica’s high school memories with Taylor Swift

In her TikTok post, Jessica explained that she was a church-going student who did not listen to much of Swift’s music at the time.

She acknowledged that she didn’t know a lot about the pop star, but she wanted to share her memories from high school.

Jessica mentioned that when she was a freshman, Swift was a junior and had just begun to gain popularity with her song “Teardrops On My Guitar.”

“So in 2006, I’m a freshman in high school, Taylor is, I think, a junior. ‘Teardrops On My Guitar’ had just come out I think over the summer.

“Obviously she got really big and that’s the year that she left school, she was homeschooled in 2006.”

Swift’s rise to fame

Jessica recalled that in 2006 when Swift was becoming a household name, she left high school to be homeschooled.

This decision came as Swift’s career began to take off, and her success led to mixed reactions from her peers.

According to Jessica, many students at their school had negative feelings towards Swift as she started to gain fame.

Jessica noted that Swift was often “hated” by her classmates when she began achieving success.

She pointed out that the discontent came from peers who were likely envious or uncomfortable with Swift’s rapid rise.

Jessica remarked, “Keep in mind, these are her peers, not just random people on the internet.”

She highlighted that these were students who saw Swift’s career unfold while they were still in school.

“She’s literally like what 16, 17, leaving high school to pursue a career that people are telling her that she could never have.

Moreover, Jessica emphasized that some of the boys Swift wrote songs about were still attending school with her.

This added a layer of complexity to the situation, as those boys might have felt exposed by the songs that discussed their relationships and shortcomings.

“Also, the guys she was writing these songs about, they were still in school. And now they have a hit song about them, talking about what a s****y boyfriend they are, you know?”

In her video, Jessica also mentioned that there were many rumors about how Swift started her career.

She admitted that despite being in high school with Swift, she did not know the specifics of these stories.

However, she did note that not many students had kind words to say about Swift during their time together.

Swift responded to the claims with grace and humor.

Despite the negative sentiments expressed by some classmates, Taylor Swift ultimately found success in her career.

Jessica humorously pointed out that Swift had the last laugh when she invited her former classmates to the Country Music Association (CMA) Awards in 2009.

Jessica interpreted this as Swift saying, “F**k you” to those who doubted her.

She acknowledged that Swift had every right to celebrate her achievements, even if it was tough for some of her former classmates.

“She invited us to the CMAs to say ‘F**k you’. And we deserved it,” McLane revealed.

“So Taylor, touché, that was a good one.”

Social media reactions

Jessica’s video sparked reactions, with Swifties showing support in the comments.

She is a success in what she does. We should cheer her on, one user said.

I’m not a fan of her music…but anyone who went to school with her and hated her…jealous of her zeal to succeed and fulfill her dreams, the second user commented.

I could definitely see that.. and to be fair and honest i never read the whole story just the headline lol, the third user wrote.

Imagine being an adult and worrying about how someone was in high school lol. GET A LIFE! Another user said.

I know some that went to school with her and they all said the same thing. The snobby attitude was enough, someone said.

It’s probably because she wore short skirts and this girl wore t-shirts. She was cheer captain and she was in the bleachers…, another joked.
