Singer Post Malone visited Howlin’ Wolf, a well-known bar and music venue just outside the French Quarter in downtown New Orleans. During his visit, he left a $2,000 tip for server Heather Foster.
Foster was told by Square she could only receive $200 of the tip.
According to Foster’s Facebook post, Square claimed the tip amount was too high to process.
The story drew attention from New Orleans city council and journalist Cassie Shirm of WDSU.
Square Responds to the Incident
When contacted by reporters, Square confirmed that they were reviewing the situation. It is speculated that this may be a security measure designed to prevent fraudulent transactions.
If so, the company will need to act quickly to verify the transaction and ensure that Foster receives the full amount she was promised.
