Christina Fulton files lawsuit against Nicolas Cage
Fulton, 57, has accused Cage, 61, of failing to prevent their son, Weston Coppola Cage, from harming her. The couple separated shortly after Weston was born in 1990.
Court documents claim the attack happened on April 28 last year. Weston was 33 years old at the time.
Fulton is suing Cage for assault, battery, negligence, and emotional distress.
Additionallt, she also alleges he knew their son needed help but failed to intervene.
“Weston has a long history of mental and psychological disorder and a history of committing violent assault and battery and harming numerous individuals,” the filing read.
“Nicolas has been aware of Weston’s history and nevertheless failed to take action to prevent Weston from committing acts of violence and harming others.”
Allegations of negligence and substance abuse
Fulton claims Cage and Weston would often drink together. She alleges this worsened Weston’s history of substance abuse.
Additionally, she also states that Cage repeatedly bailed Weston out of jail.
The lawsuit claims Weston has a history of violent behavior and mental health issues. It argues that Cage was aware of these problems but took no action.
Details of the alleged attack
Court records state that Fulton suffered severe injuries. These include a concussion, bruises, an eye injury, dental trauma, PTSD, and psychological distress.
The lawsuit states:”Nicolas knew or should have known that Weston posed a serious and imminent danger to others, including Plaintiff, based on his documented history of violent assaults, substance abuse, and mental instability.”
Additionally, it also accuses Cage of ignoring warning signs and failing to prevent the attack.
Christina Fulton breaks her silence
Fulton spoke to TMZ outside her Los Angeles home. She said she has been “heartbroken for a very long time.”
She added: “I have done this alone. I have been left alone—if not blocked.” She also accused Cage of preventing her from helping Weston.
A spokesperson for Cage called the allegations “absurd and frivolous.” They stated: “Weston Coppola is a 34-year-old man. Mr. Cage does not control Weston’s behavior and is not responsible for the alleged assault.”
