A tall woman was confronted by a customer who mistook her for being trans, leading to her wrongful termination from her job at Walmart.
In a surprising incident at Walmart, a customer accused a tall woman of being transgender, leading to her firing.
This event has sparked discussions about discrimination and workplace safety.
Customer confronts a Walmart employee as they think she’s trans
Dani Davis, a 6’4″ cisgender woman, was working her usual evening shift at Walmart when the incident occurred.
On March 14, she took a bathroom break. While in the restroom, a male customer followed her inside and began yelling at her.
He mistakenly thought she was a trans woman and started using offensive language.

Dani reported that the man yelled transphobic slurs. He threatened violence, saying he would “protect” his girlfriend from “those people.”
Davis felt scared and unsafe during this confrontation.
“I was scared,” Davis stated. “I was extremely shaken and scared as I waited, listening for him or anyone.”
“So, a bit of background for those who’ve never met me, I am a tall biological woman. I was born a female and I identify as a woman,” explained Davis.

After the customer left, Dani returned to her department and informed her supervisor about what happened.
The experience shook her, and she wanted to ensure her workplace was safe.
She explained the situation clearly, hoping that her employer would take the matter seriously.

However, a week later, Dani fired from her job. Walmart stated that her termination was due to her posing a “security risk.”
They claimed that she did not report the incident to a salaried manager.
“The reason they gave for my termination was that I didn’t inform a salaried member of management of the incident and that not doing so posed a security risk,” said Davis.
“I just don’t understand. I was the one followed into the bathroom and I was the one who felt threatened and unsafe…. so I get fired for it? Does this make sense to anyone?”

Online users outraged over the incident
News of Dani’s firing quickly spread on social media, leading to public outrage.
Many people expressed their anger at Walmart for how they handled the situation.
One user said: I hope she sues Walmart for wrongful termination and the guy for Slander.
The second user added: Get a lawyer quick. Don’t let Walmart get away with that…..
The third user wrote: I used to work for Walmart.. They were so mean to me.
Another user said: Yet another reason to never shop at Walmart.
Someone added: She should file charges against the customer also. That’s harassment plus a targeted hate crime charge attached.

Walmart responded to the incident
In response to the backlash, Walmart invited Dani back to work with back pay.
A spokesperson stated that they wanted to ensure a safe environment for all their employees. They acknowledged the public’s concerns and promised to review the situation internally.
The spokesperson said, “We’ve reviewed the situation and will be addressing it internally. We’ve also made multiple attempts to invite Ms. Davis to return to work, with back pay,”
