Trump acknowledges musk’s departure from the administration
Elon Musk has been a strong supporter of Donald Trump. However, he may leave his government role sooner than expected.
Trump has informed his inner circle, including cabinet members, that Musk might step away from his duties soon.
Some speculate this could be due to Trump’s dissatisfaction with Musk’s work. However, sources say Trump remains pleased with Musk’s contributions.
Musk and Trump have reportedly agreed that it will soon be time for Musk to return to his businesses. Instead of an active government role, he will take on a supporting role for the administration.
Musk’s role in DOGE was never meant to be permanent
While many believed Musk was leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), he was officially a senior advisor.
The White House clarified that Musk did not have direct decision-making power in DOGE.
Despite this, Trump publicly acknowledged Musk’s contributions and the challenges he faced in the role.
“Elon, I want to thank you — I know you’ve been through a lot,” Trump said. He referenced threats and vandalism against Tesla cars.
Trum breaks slience about Musk’s role in DOGE
When asked if DOGE will continue without Musk’s oversight, President Donald Trump indicated that its time may be coming to an end.
The POTUS explained in the press at the Oval Office: “Well, I can’t tell you that… I can say this that, a lot of the people that are working with DOGE are the secretaries and heads of various agencies – and they’ve learned a lot and they’re dealing with the DOGE people.”
“I think some of them may try and keep the DOGE people with them. But, at a certain point, I think it will end.”
While, Trump addressed the future of DOGE when asked if it would continue without Musk.
He stated that while some agency heads might retain DOGE staff, the department is likely nearing its end.
Additionally, Trump also praised Musk’s effort. He called him a “very talented guy” and expressing a desire to keep him involved as long as possible.
Trump said: “At some point, he’s going to be going back. I’d keep him as long as I can keep him – he’s a very talented guy.
“You know I love very smart people. He’s very smart, and he’s done a good job.”
Musk hints at transition during interview
Speculation about Musk’s departure grew after a March 27 interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier.
Baier asked if Musk would be ready to leave when his government role expired.
Musk responded, “I think we will have accomplished most of the work required to reduce the deficit by $1 trillion within that time frame.”
Then, on April 1, Trump addressed reporters about Musk’s future.
“At some point, Elon’s going to want to go back to his company,” Trump said.
He added, “He wants to go back, but I’ll keep him as long as I can.”
Although Musk is leaving, Trump and his team acknowledge his valuable contributions.
White House spokesperson Harrison Fields confirmed Musk’s role in executing Trump’s agenda.
“As the President said, this White House would love to keep Elon around for as long as possible.”
He added, “Elon has been instrumental in executing the President’s agenda and will continue this good work until the President says otherwise.”
While this marks the end of Musk’s government role, it does not mean the end of his partnership with Trump.
