A TikToker believes ridicule of breakdancer Raygun’s performance at Paris Olympics is understandable and reflects audience expectations.

Recently, a young TikTok user named Carla Efstratiou shared her thoughts on the performance of Australian breakdancer Raygun during the 2024 Olympics.

Her views have started conversations about what people expect from athletes and how the public reacts to their performances.

TikToker criticised Raygun’s Paris Olympics performance

Raygun, 36, who is a university lecturer and holds a PhD in breakdancing culture, completely bombed at the Games.

She lost all three of her round-robin battles by a combined score of 54-0, prompting widespread mockery and sympathy from the public.

However, the TikToker Carla Efstratiou is not buying the sympathy.

Efstratiou described herself as a girl with the opinions of a 65-year-old white man.

Efstratiou’s strong critique of Raygun’s Olympic performance

She did not hold back in her assessment of Raygun’s Olympic journey.

“I don’t feel sorry for Raygun, that Australian breakdancer that everyone is laughing about,” Efstratiou wrote.

She accused Raygun and her “Newtown, university-type buddies” of complaining about the ridicule.

Efstratiou even claimed the Prime Minister supported Raygun’s “great shot” at the Olympics. But Efstratiou was having none of it.

“Are we all living in delusionalland?” she asked.

She insisted that Raygun should never have been competing at the Olympics in the first place.

“This woman went with a ridiculous routine to the Olympic Games, where people train their entire lives and dedicate their entire existence for four years to performing on this stage.

And she goes with this ill-prepared routine that literally scored her a zero because it was so bad,” Efstratiou said.

The TikToker also questioned whether Raygun was as passionate about breakdancing as she claimed to be.

“If she truly loved breakdancing and wanted the world to take it seriously, she would not perform like that.

Doing so brings criticism and mockery onto her,” Efstratiou argued.

Efstratiou slams university types and performance at the Olympics

Efstratiou then criticized “university types,” accusing them of being “so narcissistic.”

They believe they can perform a joke on the world stage. She claimed they think people will love them for it regardless.

“No, that’s not how it works in a meritocracy like the Olympic Games.

When you present the world a joke of performance and routine, don’t complain when people laugh,” she said.

The TikToker imagined what it would be like to compete in the Olympics in events where she had no chance of winning.

She said people would correctly mock her for being unqualified, and she believed the same should apply to Raygun.

“Imagine if I swam the 100m and came in last by a long way.

Then, I cried when people laughed at me and replayed the footage.” Efstratiou said.

Social media reactions

The reaction to Efstratious’ video has been divided.

Some people agreed that Raygun’s performance was embarrassing, while others defended her and praised her for reaching the Olympics.

However, most people seemed to support Efstratiou’s straightforward opinion.

Most Australians are outraged at this – that’s the objective truth.

Only politicians and “progressive” Leftists are defending this performance.

They are the ones finding excuses to applaud this terrible showing, one user said.

Well said. The Olympics is not to go and have fun. It’s supposed to have the best of the best in each sporting field!

Not someone doing kangaroo hops that a 3-year-old would do!! The second user commented.

She got hundreds of thousands of dollars and a free trip to Paris paid for by the Australian taxpayer.

Don’t let the media fool you into believing she is a hero who did her best, the third user wrote.

Her routine was embarrassing we all know that. I’m surprised she didn’t attempt the robot.!!

That might have been too difficult for her, another said.
