On social media, many viewers were stunned after a viral video showing a swirling black ring in the sky terrified a Kansas town.
A strange and terrifying phenomenon recently unfolded over a small Kansas town when a large black ring in the sky appeared. This led locals in shock and confusion.
Kansas resident captures unusual black ring in the sky
On Monday afternoon, Bonner Springs resident Frankie Camren was riding his motorcycle when he was stunned by a strange sight above him.
A mysterious unusual anomaly hanging in the air on a nearby county road.
While, Camren, nearly 50 years old, was immediately captivated by the bizarre occurrence.
He immediately pulled over to record the surreal sight.
“I just pulled over,” Camren recounted in an interview with FOX Weather. “I’m almost 50 years old. I ain’t ever seen nothing like that.”
Camren’s video sparks curiosity and viral reaction
As the black ring in the sky intensified, Camren captured video footage of the unusual event.
Additionally, the center of the ring appeared dark and ominous, with smoke swirling around it, adding to the mystery of the spectacle.
“Can somebody tell me what the (expletive) is this?” he can be heard saying in the clip. “And I’m not using no app … it appears that little black stuff has fallen down the center of it.”
Social media reaction
Camren’s Facebook post featuring the video quickly gained traction, going viral within hours.
Additionally, local news stations amplified the story, increasing its visibility and causing Camren’s phone to blow up with messages.
One person said: Probably someone using one of those smoke ring generator/cannons to have some fun in the locality.
A second wrote: Whatever it is. It’s spent more time in space than Katy Perry did
While a third commented:I’ve heard that’s what happens when an electrical transformer blows up
Another added: It’s birds. So many FKN idiots. Smh.
Someone else said: UFO, lol

Meteorologists suggest an explosion-like phenomenon
After reviewing the footage, meteorologists from the FOX Forecast Center analyzed the black ring.
They speculated that the phenomenon was likely caused by an explosion.
Additionally, they compared the formation to the structure of a mushroom cloud. In this case, smoke is trapped in a ring due to rapidly rising air.
The phenomenon appeared rare but plausible, with air moving faster than surrounding air, trapping smoke in a circular formation.
Similar phenomenon reported in nearby towns
Interestingly, Tonganoxie, a nearby town, had reports of smaller black rings in the sky the day before Camren’s sighting.
Additionally, this event in Kansas mirrors a similar black ring in the sky sighting in Seattle on March 29. Residents there reported an identical phenomenon.
FOX 13 Seattle reported that the National Weather Service confirmed that the event was not related to weather phenomena, leaving many questions unanswered.
The unusual rings continued to stir curiosity. While, locals began to wonder whether the strange occurrences were isolated or part of a larger pattern.
