In a viral TikTok posted on July 29, a woman shares the story of how she submitted her two weeks’ notice at work, only to be told by her employer that her employment was being terminated immediately.

On Tiktok platform, the woman, a future educator (@heyitskelsi1), had been told by a team leader that she could work her final two weeks.

The video has the caption: “Dont give any job the courtesy of a 2 week notice. This is the bullshit they will do.”

The video showed her on the phone with her manager, explaning the situation.

However, her employer disagreed, stating that the company required the immediate acceptance of her two weeks’ notice due to the sensitivity of their work.

“I am pissed because I have three kids and bills to pay, and I’m not gonna get paid until Sept. 15,” she says.

While the TikToker acknowledged that companies are not legally obligated to honor a two-week notice, she also pointed out that this situation was an “involuntary separation” from the company, as defined by the Society for Human Resource Management.

The video quickly went viral and sparked debate on social media

In the comment selection, many viewers expressed sympathy and support for her situation.

While, someone suggested taht she contact HR to ensure she received payment for the two weeks and any unused vacation time.

Following the termination, the woman shared an update on July 31. She revealed that she filed for unemployment benefits just 30 minutes after her conversation with her former boss.
