33-Year-Old Influencer Criticized for Still Living with Her Mother and Not Knowing How to Drive
A 33-year-old lifestyle influencer, Elle McNamara, has faced backlash for admitting she still lives with her mother and has never learned to drive. Based in Buxton, Derbyshire, she shares content on hair, beauty, and skincare with over 600,000 Instagram followers under Bambi Does Beauty.
Although she primarily shares beauty tips, she also posts videos about things she wished she had known when she was younger and how to tell if a man is interested in you. However, when she opened up about her personal life, many were surprised when she posted a video with the text: “Things I do that people consider weird at my age.”
Single Life and Introverted Lifestyle
Elle revealed that she still lives with her mother and considers her 62 and 72-year-old parents to be her “best friends.” She also admitted that she has been single for 14 years—almost half of her life—and does not use dating apps.
Additionally, Elle shared that she “does not dream of having kids” and has become “more introverted” as she gets older. What shocked many even more was that she has never learned to drive, despite being able to do so since she was 17. Many criticized this decision, arguing that not knowing how to drive could be inconvenient, especially as her parents age.
Some of the comments included:
- “Learning how to drive is a necessity, especially considering your parents’ age. You should do it for them.”
- “Not knowing how to drive is such a disadvantage for you and those around you.”
- “She’s going to have a hard time once her parents pass away.”
Reactions from the Online Community
Elle dislikes alcohol, a growing trend among Gen Z, with only 27% drinking compared to 47% of Boomers. Despite saying, “It’s okay to live differently,” many urged her to leave her comfort zone and explore more.
Some notable comments included:
- “The problem with living in your comfort zone is that it keeps getting smaller the longer you stay in it.”
- “You’re becoming more introverted because you don’t do anything.”
- “I say this as someone who lost a parent at a young age. Family seems important to you, but once your parents pass away, what sense of ‘family’ will you have left if you haven’t found a partner or built strong social connections?”
Despite the criticism, Elle continues to stand by her lifestyle choices and openly share her personal experiences with her followers.
