The unfortunate delivery occurred in an area that had been devastated by wildfires.
In January, many homes were destroyed in the region, leading to a significant loss for families.

Mandy Moore, who is famous for her role in the TV show “This Is Us”, shared a photo of a lone package sitting amid the charred remains of her in-laws’ home.
She used her Instagram account to call out Amazon, urging the company to “do better.”
Moore emphasized that it was inappropriate to deliver a package to a house that no longer existed.
She added: “Can we not have better discretion than to leave a package at a residence that no longer exists?”

Following the backlash, Amazon responded.
A spokesperson named Steve Kelly reached out to Mandy Moore via Instagram to apologize for the mistake.
He mentioned that the company is working to gather more information about the incident to understand how it happened.
Kelly explained that Amazon has been advising its delivery teams to use caution when delivering to locations impacted by wildfires.
He noted that the company takes such incidents seriously and is committed to improving its processes.

“We’ve reached out to Ms. Moore via Instagram to apologize for this and to ask for more information from her in-laws so we’re better able investigate what happened here.
“For weeks, we’ve advised those who are delivering on our behalf in southern California to use discretion in areas that were impacted by wildfires,
especially if it involves delivering to a damaged home – that clearly didn’t happen here.”
The context of the wildfires
The wildfires in California have had a devastating impact on many communities.
The damage is estimated to cost around $250 billion, affecting countless families.
Many celebrities, including Mandy Moore, have shared their experiences and losses due to the fires.
They have used their platforms to raise awareness about the situation and the need for support.
Moore herself had to evacuate her home during the wildfires.

While the main part of her house survived, she expressed feelings of “survivor’s guilt” for being among the fortunate ones.
She shared that her husband lost his music studio and other structures on their property.
Mandy Moore also faced some criticism for sharing a GoFundMe campaign to help her brother-in-law and sister-in-law recover from the fire damage.
In response, she defended her actions, stating that it was important to support family during such challenging times.
She urged people to be more empathetic and understanding of the situation.

Social media reactions
The delivery incident sparked a range of reactions from the public.
People sympathized with wildfire victims while criticizing Amazon for its lack of awareness in sensitive situations.
One user said: Do better by taking better care of their employees.
This person did there job if it said to the delivery address was there then job done … who’s to say they they didn’t do their job
The second user wrote: It’s not Amazon but the driver. I would mark it undeliverable and take it back to the warehouse.
The customer can reorder and send it to an alternate address.
The third user commented: How is it amazons fault, you need to confirm your delivery address so this is clearly the person’s fault
Another user added: If the driver didn’t deliver it goes against their standings, they are faulted for not delivering. This isn’t the delivery persons fault.
Someone said: I bet at least one of them in that family also said “damn I wonder if they’ll still deliver the package”
