Real Housewives star Jill Zarin has been slammed for bringing an entire suitcase of DIET COKE on vacation, thinking Europe doesn't sell it

In a video shared on TikTok by her daughter Ally Shapiro, the 59-year-old's extensive stash, which she hoped would last her two weeks was revealed.

In the footage, Jill's luggage was shown containing an array of cans and bottles, reflecting her belief that Europe lacked her preferred beverage.

However, the TV star's decision sparked a debate in the comment section, with one individual labeling it as 'unhinged behavior' on social media.

In the video clip, Ally documents the moments before her mom Jill embarked on a cruise trip that included stops in Croatia, Italy, and Greece.

She opens with:  'So I've smuggled in my Diet Coke from the United States because they don't sell it in Europe. They only have Coke Light and Coke Zero and it sucks.

'But I think one exploded.'

With caution, Jill begins to unzip the bag while Ally adds: 'She literally packed a suitcase of Diet Coke."

'I'm a little nervous it's going to explode.'

As the Real Housewives star carefully raises the lid, the extent of the stockpile intended to last 'two weeks' is revealed.

However, a number of the cans appear to have burst, resulting in the suitcase's interior being dampened by the Diet Coke.

In disbelief, Ally quietly utters 'Jesus Christ' while Jill attempts to rearrange the bottles before the clip comes to an end.

One person said: I actually get this 100%! I live in the UK where Diet Coke is plentiful but when I travel to OTHER countries in Europe, e.g., Spain, and Portugal, they only really sell Cola Lite or Coke Zero and they DO taste different !! (Although both would still be preferable over the abomination that is Pepsi/Max  )I wouldn't go to the extreme this woman has, but I do understand why she has done it!

A  second wrote: To be fair how many British take tea bags when they go abroad, like it’s grown in the UK     although in mainland Europe they wouldn’t know what a Diet Coke is as it’s called coke light there

A third said: Crazy isn’t it… they don’t even have chip and pin yet in restaurants but yet they think we don’t have Diet Coke

Someone else said: While she is of course wrong about Diet Coke not being available in Europe, she is not wrong about it tasting different. In the US they use high fructose corn syrup as a sweetener and in Europe, they use sugar which apparently makes a very noticeable difference. I've seen comments elsewhere saying the US version is disgusting with most others agreeing though some find the European version too sweet. As daft as she is at least she won't have to re-acclimatise to the corn syrup taste after her trip.

I lived in Europe and North America. It's amazing how Americans and Canadians included don't know anything about other countries. They think Europe is underdeveloped. They are so engulfed in their little bubble they don't know any other cultures except their own. Their food is disgusting and they don't have any culinary culture. Chicken nuggets and pepperoni pizza that's it. Fried food left and right! Europe has way more variety of food and is more culturally advanced hands down. Traveling for them is going to Mexico in an all-inclusive resort hotel and staying there for 2 weeks without ever leaving the hotel. Another said.

In response to the criticism, Ally shared a subsequent video in which Jill provided additional context on the matter.

She explains: 'I appreciate everyone's comments but I checked with the ship prior to leaving New York and was made very aware that they only have Coke Light and Coke Zero.'

Brandishing a silver can before the camera to substantiate her argument, Jill expounds: 'Even though it might resemble Diet Coke, it's labeled as Coke Light.

'And it doesn't taste like Diet Coke. It just doesn't.'
