Recently, staff at North Carolina’s Fayetteville Animal Protection Society suddenly found a small cage covered by a blanket that was attached to a heartwarming letter outside the center's door.
Remarkably, inside the cage, there were many puppies with black fur.
Jackie Peery, the shelter's executive director emphasized that, at first, he thought that was another case of irresponsible pet ownership, not spaying/neutering, or a family moving to another place without their pets.
However, these thoughts quickly turned into sympathy through a heartwarming letter written by a homeless person.
This is not an abandoned case, it represents love and compassion.
In contrast to other negative cases of pet abandonment, this is a case of indirect pet rescue that contains a touching story from a kind homeless person.
The letter written by the kind homeless person touched the hearts of the entire staff at the shelter.
In the letter, this person left a plea to help the puppies after their mother died because of being hit by a car.
The mother dog, who was often fed by this person, left them a message that she still had puppies. And they found them nearby.
After discovering the puppies, this person brought them to the shelter to ask for help because they could not afford to take care of them.
"I'm sorry for leaving them like this but I am homeless and cannot afford to care for them ...," the person wrote.
On the back of the letter, the man expressed his pain at the sudden passing of the mother dog. He hopes the puppies will have a better chance of living than their mother and him.
The man also emphasized that he felt it would be cruel to leave them alone in the cold to wait for a mother who would never return. Therefore, he decided to take them to the Fayetteville Animal Protection Society.
Although no one knew about the homeless man's identity, they were extremely grateful and praised him as a hero of the puppies and animal shelter for his warm act.

Shelter staff said the puppies appeared sick when they first arrived. But now they are cared for with all the love of everyone and are always happy every day.
Peery also believes that soon the puppies will find new homes that truly belong to them.
Additionally, she hopes that the homeless man can show up to receive the best treat he deserves as the way he helped these dogs.
"There are many people here ready to support him after his kind action. It is our pleasure to thank him in person and even help him in return,” Peery said.
