A heartwarming incident unfolded as a dog found itself trapped in a canal desperately struggling to swim to the shore. Fortunately, a group of construction workers came to the rescue, utilizing an excavator to free the stranded dog.
The workers spotted a dog stranded in a nearby canal.
In the video, workers are talking while using a machine to dig down to the bottom of the fast-flowing stream of water carrying pieces of trash.
Suddenly, one of the workers discovered a dog being carried away by the fast-flowing water and was almost drowning in an irrigation channel in Ecuador.
Construction workers decided to use a digger to rescue the dog
A builder named Abel Murillo climbed into the compartment of the excavator and was lowered directly above the fast-flowing canal.
As soon as the current carried the dog towards them, the builder did his best to hold her and pull her into the excavator compartment with him.
However, because of the fast-flowing water, Murillo accidentally held the loose skin on the dog's back, causing the dog to be in pain and scared to bite his hand.
Both were brought to safety under the cheers of other workers who witnessed this touching incident.
The dog was in a bad condition as immersed in the water for too long
After Murillo and the dog were brought up, people donated money to take Murillo to the hospital to treat his hand wound from the bite.
The dog was said to have appeared dazed when brought ashore and was taken to a veterinary clinic shortly thereafter for further treatment.
Murillo shared about the risky rescue moment: "We decided to use an excavator to save it as quickly as possible because it was exhausted while struggling with the fast water.
"Thank God, we succeeded in saving it and giving it a second chance at life," he added.
Murillo also said the dog did not intentionally bite him and only bit lightly out of fear.
After about 20 minutes, the dog was completely normal and was discharged from the hospital.
People believe that the dog accidentally fell into the canal while looking for food around here.
However, the canal was quite deep and extremely fast-flowing, making it impossible for the dog to swim to shore, and having to struggle for a long time under the fast water, it almost drowned before being rescued by construction workers.
