Bermuda was known for its deadly reputation

The Bermuda Triangle has been notorious for the high number of unexplained disappearances. It has spanned approximately 700,000 square kilometers of ocean.

Additionally, this heavily trafficked area of the Atlantic Ocean has sparked numerous conspiracy theories over the years.

These theories range from supernatural forces to extraterrestrial activity.

Various theories have emerged, some more speculative than others.

Notable among them are claims of supernatural phenomena or alien abductions.

Despite these dramatic suggestions, scientific investigation offers a more grounded perspective.

Scientific explanation of the Devil’s triangle

Australian scientist Karl Kruszelnicki has challenged the myths surrounding the Bermuda Triangle.

According to Kruszelnicki, the high number of disappearances can be attributed to “human error and bad weather” rather than any extraordinary factors.

Additionally, he noted that the region’s proximity to the equator contributes to the statistical frequency of incidents.

While. he also pointed out that the area’s busy maritime traffic plays a significant role

Kruszelnicki said that the frequency of disappearances in the Bermuda Triangle is comparable to that in other heavily trafficked areas, such as the Alaska Triangle.

Kruszelnicki said: “It is close to the Equator, near a wealthy part of the world – America – therefore you have a lot of traffic.”

According to data from Lloyd’s of London and the US Coast Guard, the rate of disappearances in the Bermuda Triangle aligns with global averages when adjusted for traffic volume.

The flight 19 Incident: A famous incident in Devil’s Triangle history

One of the most famous cases associated with the Bermuda Triangle is Flight 19, which disappeared in 1945.

This training flight, consisting of five Grumman TBM Avenger torpedo bombers, vanished while en route from Naval Air Station Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

All 14 crew members were experienced Navy airmen.

However, the mystery of Flight 19 remained unsolved for decades until 1975.

Then, librarian and historian Larry Kusche published a comprehensive investigation.

Kusche’s research concluded that adverse weather conditions were largely responsible for the flight’s disappearance.

This provided a logical explanation for the incident.

The longstanding mystery of the Bermuda Triangle has been demystified through scientific investigation and historical research.

Additionally, Karl Kruszelnicki’s findings suggest that human error and challenging weather conditions, rather than supernatural or extraterrestrial forces, account for the area’s notorious reputation.

The case of Flight 19 further supports this explanation.

However, it illustrated that many of the Bermuda Triangle’s mysteries are grounded in more mundane realities.
