A bride and groom mistakenly included wrong banking details on wedding invites, sending guests’ cash gifts to a stranger’s account.
A couple’s wedding turned into a surprising mix-up when guests accidentally sent their cash gifts to a stranger’s bank account.
This situation arose because the bride and groom mistakenly provided incorrect banking details on their wedding invitations.
The bride and groom stunned after losing cash gifts as they put the wrong banking info on invites
The couple had planned a beautiful wedding and invited their friends and family to celebrate their special day.
As is common, they included information about how guests could give monetary gifts.
However, in a significant error, the banking information printed on the invitations did not match the details on their wedding website.
During the reception, the bride’s cousin noticed something was off.
He compared the bank information on the couple’s wedding website with what was on the invitation.
To his shock, he realized that the details were different. He quickly approached the bride to let her know about the mistake.
“It was the perfect reception – until the bride’s cousin walked up to her table and said – ‘you’ve put the wrong bank details on your invites.'”
This revelation changed the mood of the event.
The couple became worried that many of their guests had sent money to the wrong account.
The wedding planner, Claudia Postigo, who was overseeing the event, saw the couple’s distress.
She reassured them that they could handle the situation.
Postigo advised the couple to focus on enjoying their wedding and not to let the mistake ruin their day.
“This revelation killed the mood pretty much instantly,” Postigo said. “The couple immediately began freaking out, worried that half the guests’ gifts had gone astray.”
“I told the couple to put it out of their minds and go enjoy their first dance, and I would take care of it,” she explained.
She took it upon herself to find a solution. She researched how guests could retrieve their funds and how to inform everyone about the error.
Postigo started to fix the mix-up
After gathering the necessary information, Postigo reached out to the guests who had sent money.
She explained the situation and encouraged them to contact their banks.
The guests were relieved to hear that they could retrieve their funds and send them to the correct account.
Fortunately, the guests were cooperative and acted quickly.
Most of them managed to recover their money and redirected it to the right bank account.
By the end of the night, the issue was resolved, and the couple could enjoy the rest of their celebration without worry.
“All the guests who had sent money to the wrong account managed to get it back and sent it to the right bank account, so it was all sorted out in the end.”
Postigo also shared some helpful tips for guests who are giving gifts.
She emphasized that it is a good idea to stick to the couple’s gift registry if they have one.
Guests should also verify the correct bank information before sending any monetary gifts.
“Monetary gifts… [are] often welcomed by couples looking to save for the future.
If they request cash or a donation to a fund, don’t feel pressured to give a physical gift instead,” Postigo shared.
Additionally, she noted that cash gifts are becoming more popular as many couples prefer to save for their future or fund specific projects together.
If a couple requests cash or donations to a particular fund, guests should feel comfortable giving in that manner.
“And, of course, if you’re the bride and groom, double and triple check the details in every single place to ensure you don’t end up with a headache like my couple did!,” she added.
