A bride threatened to kick the groom’s 6-year-old nephew when he showed up at her wedding wearing white attire.

The groom, 28, and bride, 26, tied the knot earlier this month, and while the ceremony was described as 'amazing,' the subsequent reception didn't go as planned.

Sharing the incident on Reddit, the groom recounted how his wife had enforced a strict no-white dress code.

During the reception, he found his wife in tears in the restroom. Later, she confronted his sister, requesting both her and their nephew to leave.

This prompted the groom to reflect on whether he was mistaken in labeling his wife as 'insecure and selfish' due to her actions.

The situation worsened when they decided to sleep separately that evening, with the wife staying with her mother.

The groom began: 'Once I got to the bathroom I knocked on the door and informed my wife that it was me at the door. After a few minutes, I heard the door unlock and open. When I got in a saw my wife sitting on the floor with mascara running down her cheeks.'

Upon inquiring about the reason for her distress, she revealed that it stemmed from their nephew donning 'white jeans and a white bow tie'.

'I told her she was overreacting but in a much nicer way and I said that she should go enjoy the reception and forget about the whole thing,' he continued.

'She eventually texted her sister to come to the bathroom and fix her makeup so she could go back out and have a good night.'

Subsequently, he saw them pair talking, although he remained unaware that his wife had requested his sister to depart unless there was an alteration in the child's attire.

'My wife [felt] she was completely in the right for what she asked, and I told her that if she kicks my family out, then I will happily leave too,'  he explained.

Following the reception, the wife chose to stay at her mother's residence, and the two of them have not 'haven't spoken' since.

Many users commented on the situation, expressing their opinion that the groom was in the wrong

One person commented: I very much doubt that this ever happened but if it did, then divorce the woman as quick as you can mate and find another bride who isn't a loony toon.

A second said: Not justifying the wife’s behavior but If everyone knew how adamant your wife felt about no white at the party why did the sister-in-law dress her son in white? No matter how petty the situation is it’s her special moment and clearly, the husband was okay with her desire of no white. I could see a guest may accidentally wear a white but a family member. Personally, I think the sister was challenging the bride's wishes using the child. Out of respect as it is their day and the union of a new family member, I would not have dressed my son or daughter in white if that was a known fact not to.

A third said: If bridezilla puts this much negativity into someone wearing white, then she needs a straight jacket, not a wedding

Someone else wrote: Ridiculous Bride but I’m not sure white jeans are a particularly suitable attire for a wedding I guess because it’s a kiddie it makes it ok !!!
