A Chinese tourist in Australia found himself in a unique situation when airport security stopped him over a large milk jug.
The man, from Zhengzhou in China’s Henan province, was carrying a three-liter container of milk. Security flagged it for violating the 100ml liquid restriction for hand luggage.
Refusing to let the milk go to waste, the tourist made a surprising decision. He lifted the jug and drank 2.5 liters of milk on the spot.
The moment was captured on video by his friend, showing the man tilting his head back and gulping the milk.
Surprising reason behind the milk
The tourist and his friend wanted to bring the milk home due to its affordability in Australia.
“In Australia, milk is way cheaper than in China,” explained the friend, surnamed Nan. “It’s even cheaper than water!”
‘We were not allowed to bring the milk on the flight, so my friend decided to drink all of it at the airport,’ Mr Nan said.
‘I’ve never seen him drink so much milk before,’ he added.
Milk prices in Australia are notably lower, with supermarkets selling it for AUD$1 per liter. Meanwhile, milk in China can cost up to 60 yuan (£6.84) per liter for imported brands.
Amused bystanders and social media reactions
Fellow passengers were amused, some gawking as the tourist downed the milk.
Once shared online, the footage drew comparisons to a scene from the popular Chinese comedy Lost on Journey. In the film, a character chugs milk to avoid security restrictions, leading to hilarious consequences.
One person said: He’s going to be friends with the toilet the whole trip. He might as well get himself a seat next to the toilet door. He’s gonna be doing number 1 & 2 interchangeably, good luck to him.
