The White House did not explain why the couple chose to split up after the funeral.
However, it is believed that Melania may have been heading to New York City to celebrate her upcoming birthday with their son, Barron, who lives there.
Donald had mentioned earlier that they would celebrate her birthday on Air Force One during their flight.

An aide brought a large bouquet of pink flowers off the plane for Melania. The flowers were placed in her motorcade, adding a festive touch to her birthday.
Additionally, the meal served on Air Force One included a special dessert: a chocolate coin featuring the seal of the first lady.
Melania wore a stylish outfit for the funeral. She chose Dolce and Gabbana, complete with a veil, lace gloves, and a diamond cross necklace.
As a practicing Catholic, this attire honored the occasion. Throughout the service, the couple held hands, showing their unity during a solemn time.
After the funeral, Melania changed into more comfortable clothes for the flight back.
She stepped off the plane wearing black pants, a shirt, and a Burberry trench coat. This outfit was more relaxed compared to her formal attire during the service.
‘Oh she’s gonna have a great birthday. She’s got a working birthday,’ the president told reporters Friday on Air Force One on the flight to Rome.
‘I’ll take her for dinner on the Boeing. I’ll take her for dinner on Air Force One,’ he said.
And he conceded: ‘I haven’t had time to buy presents. It’s been pretty busy.’
