Donald Trump’s biographer claims the president and Melania have an unconventional relationship and may be living mostly separate lives.
Donald Trump’s marriage to Melania Trump has long been a subject of public fascination and speculation.
Now, renowned journalist and biographer Michael Wolff is adding fuel to the fire with a claim that the couple is essentially living separate lives.
Wolff has authored several books about the former president, including *Fire and Fury* and the recently released ‘All or Nothing’.

He made the statement during a podcast appearance on *The Daily Beast Podcast* with host Joanna Coles.
The author suggested that Trump and Melania no longer function as a married couple in the traditional sense.
Melania’s absence from the White House raises eyebrows
The conversation followed a report by The New York Times. It claimed Melania Trump had spent fewer than 14 days in the White House since her husband’s second inauguration on January 20, 2025.
Melania had previously said she would divide her time between Washington, New York, and Florida.
However, her limited presence at the White House has sparked attention and concern.
While some officials have said she is present in Washington “more often than the public knows,” they declined to provide any concrete figures to support that assertion.

Donald Trump’s biographer suggests the president’s marriage with Melania is far from conventional
Wolff didn’t hold back when discussing the current state of the Trump marriage.
“They clearly do not in any way inhabit a marriage as we define marriage,” he claimed.
“I think maybe we can more specifically say they live separate lives. They are separated. The President of the United States and the First Lady are separated.
“The American public has been sold a bill of goods here that, you know, Donald Trump and his glamorous wife.
That runs entirely counter to all of the facts here, including the fact that they don’t spend any time together.”
The first 100 days and Melania’s low profile
Joanna Coles noted Melania spent about 14 days in the White House during Trump’s first 100 days.
“I think the message was about how many times she’d been to the White House or how many days she’d been there in the first 100 days, right? And it turned out to be 14.”
“But they didn’t go and say, ‘This is obviously a marriage in trouble’.” Wolff said.

“The American public has been sold a bill of goods here that, you know, Donald Trump and his glamorous wife.
“That runs entirely counter to all of the facts here, including the fact that they don’t spend any time together.”
Despite this, Melania made a rare public appearance this week to support signing the Take It Down Act.
In a rare move for a First Lady, Melania was asked by her husband to sign the order, drawing both praise and criticism online.
White House slams biographer’s comments
The Trump camp responded strongly to Wolff’s claims.
White House communications director Steven Cheung issued a scathing statement condemning the journalist.
Cheung called Wolff “an imbecile of the highest order” and “a blithering idiot,” adding that Wolff had been “widely discredited” for what he described as repeated falsehoods.
“His Trump Derangement Syndrome-addled brain has caused him to lead a miserable existence devoid of reality,” Cheung said.
