After Trump purchased a Tesla to show support for his ‘baby,’ Elon Musk made an ‘ambitious’ pledge, sparking widespread discussion online.
Trump purchases Tesla to back Musk
Elon Musk has made an ambitious pledge following a surprising move by former President Donald Trump.
Trump recently announced that he had purchased a Tesla to show support for Musk, his close ally.
Previously, the president stated that he would buy a Tesla in the morning to demonstrate his confidence in Musk.
Trump declared his support for Musk’s “baby,” referring to the businessman’s electric car company.
“In any event, I’m going to buy a brand new Tesla tomorrow morning as a show of confidence and support for Elon Musk, a truly great American,” he wrote. “Why should he be punished for putting his tremendous skills to work in order to help MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN???”
While Trump has yet to reveal which Tesla model he plans to buy, his endorsement adds another layer to the ongoing controversy surrounding Musk and Tesla.
Musk, who was appointed co-lead of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has been seen frequently with Trump.
On March 11, several Tesla models, including a Cybertruck, were spotted outside the White House.
Details of Trump’s Tesla purchase
During the event, cameras captured a handwritten list in Trump’s hand.
The note outlined Tesla model details, prices, and features.
It also mentioned: “Teslas can be purchased as low as $299/month or $35k. All cars have self-driving, just needs to be turned on (fee).”
Trump assured reporters that he planned to pay full price for his vehicle.
Rather than promoting Tesla publicly, he chose to support Musk with a direct purchase.
Tesla faces market sruggles
Previously, Tesla’s stock has faced challenges, losing half its value in three months.
As shares hit a new low, Trump took to Truth Social to claim that “Radical Left Lunatics” were colluding to boycott Tesla.
In response, Trump revealed he would buy a new Tesla, despite being legally restricted from driving.
Following Trump’s gesture, Musk made a major announcement on Twitter.
“In support of the policies of President @realDonaldTrump and to demonstrate our confidence in the future of the United States, @Tesla commits to doubling vehicle production in the US within 2 years!”
Social media reaction
On social media, Musk’s promise sparked skepticism among many observers.
Additionally, Some supporters, however, expressed concerns about Tesla’s challenges.
One commenter claimed that “leftist protesters” were paid to attack Tesla owners.
One person said: And halving the price?”
A second wrote: Don’t you need demand to do that?
Someone else said: Sounds ambitious! But with people driving Teslas being attacked by vicious, leftist, paid ‘protesters,’ how are you going to sell all of those cars? Overseas? I would buy one if I could afford it.”
Despite Musk’s pledge, reactions remain divided.
While some see it as a bold step forward, others question whether Tesla can achieve its ambitious goal.
