In line with these themes, Doja Cat chose a unique ensemble consisting of a towel and a wet, oversized T-shirt.
She was seen wearing her first outfit, consisting of a towel wrapped around her body and another on her head.
The singer also drew attention with makeup that appeared to be running down her face."
She later ditched the towel and opted for a drenched oversized T-shirt, showcasing her bleached blonde hair after removing the hair towel.
However, Doja Cat's outfit immediately sparked controversy on social media.

However, a fashion expert defends Doja Cat's wet t-shirt despite being controversial.
A spokesperson from Dalston Mill Fabrics praised Doja Cat’s avant-garde fashion choices. They explained that her initial outfit was a teaser for fans, building anticipation for her red-carpet look.
They said that Doja Cat's wet t-shirt at the Met Gala did not disappoint.
They explained: “However, the singer’s two outfit choices for the event were perhaps far from what fans were expecting - but some of the most controversial fashion choices actually make for the most clever and well-thought-out looks when examined with a closer eye and an open mind.”
They also noted that while her outfit may have been a stark contrast to the traditionally opulent gowns worn at the event, it was in keeping with the theme of 'timelessness’.
“Doja Cat’s interpretation of the theme, ‘The Garden of Time’, was in keeping with her creative, unique, and experimental taste - and portrayed the theme of transience conveyed in the short novel, upon which the event theme was based.
"Much like the book symbolises - nothing is immune to time - the wet-look appearance of Doja Cat’s dress will dry and change once again, and it’s all a part of the cycle.
"So whilst the contrast of the singer's look may be confusing in the first instance, it complimented the Gala's theme in a surprisingly obscure way."
