On social media, a viral video showed fishermen capturing a deep-sea creature with a bizarre head shape.

The terrifying footage of a man capturing a ‘doomsday fish’ has gained significant attention.

Fishermen recently made an unexpected discovery off the coast of Melville Island.

While, they caught a terrifying deep-sea creature known as the “doomsday fish.”  While, this bizarre fish has a unique head shape and an impressive size.

Finding fish in the ocean is common. However, this particular catch is extraordinary.

Additionally, the doomsday fish, which was captured during a moonlight fishing session, went quickly viral.

On social media, the Fishing Australia TV Facebook page revealed terrifying photo showing fishermen catching a ‘doomsday fish’ in a rare deep-sea sighting.

And, the post has the caption: “Ok Gurus…name this crazy creature!

In the post, Curtis Peterson, from Tiwi Islands Adventures, made the catch.  While, his discovery has generated significant attention after being shared on the Fishing Australia TV Facebook page.

In the comments section, many viewers expressed their shock at the rare discovery of the doomsday fish.

However, some others were also concerned about the occurrence of a disaster.

One person said: aren’t these the fish that show up just before a big natural disaster???? put that fucker back and send it.

A second wrote: Streamer fish. A member of the same group that oarfish are in.

While, a third commented: Looks like giant sea horse.

Someone else said: The crazy creatures are just fishermen, probably deprived of sleep… but the fish is an Oarfish, caught one down south of tassie many years ago

That’s a doomsday fish, said to bring destruction to the lands around. Another added.

Identifying the Creature – Oarfish

Despite being dubbed the “doomsday fish,” this creature is believed to be an Oarfish.

While, Oarfish are typically found at depths of up to 1,000 meters, making sightings extremely rare.

Most often, these fish are found dead and washed ashore, which underscores the rarity of such discoveries.

Fishing columnist Alex Julius from NT News commented on the catch. “It’s the first time I’ve ever heard of someone landing a fish like that up here,” he said. He added that it is unusual to catch an Oarfish, as most are found deceased on beaches.
