A girl unknowingly captures a eerie image of a “ghost child” in a car, possibly a haunting reminder to wear seatbelts.
A teenage girl took a selfie in the car and captured what appears to be a ‘ghost child’ in the back seat.
Paranormal experts believe the eerie image might be a warning from beyond the grave.
A haunting image surprises a mother and daughter
Melissa Kurtz, 48, was driving her 13-year-old daughter, Harper, to a beauty pageant when the unsettling incident occurred. Bored during the ride, Harper started taking selfies.
Later, while reviewing the photos, Melissa noticed the ghostly face of a young boy lurking behind Harper. Shocked, she insisted there was no one else in the car.
The chilling discovery and connection to a fatal crash
Curious, Melissa researched the stretch of road they were traveling on.
She discovered that the photo was taken on the anniversary of a deadly accident.
“Where the picture was taken, there was an automobile accident exactly one year ago,” Melissa recalled.
“Someone was medevacked away in a helicopter. But when I asked for details, they wouldn’t tell me much. That made me think it was a child.”
She added, “I didn’t notice the ghost until about a month later. When I saw it, I had a real ‘Oh my god’ moment.
“I ran into the other room and said to my friends, ‘You have to see this!’ Everyone was awestruck.”
Paranormal experts weigh in on the image of ‘ghost child’
Melissa sent the photo to Greg Pocha, director of parapsychology, afterlife, and paranormal studies at Eidolon Project Canada.
He analyzed the image using software also used by the FBI and CIA.
Greg explained, “The boy has no color or temperature in the picture. That adds to the possibility that the photo may be authentic as a ghost image.”
According to Greg, ghosts who die in tragic accidents often remain earthbound.
“When a soul is literally ripped or thrown from the body in an accident, it may not realize it has died,” he said.
“Chances are, this child does not know he has passed. He may haunt this part of the highway forever.”
Was the ghost warning Harper to wear a seatbelt?
Melissa believes her daughter may have a strong connection to paranormal activity.
“Harper didn’t have her seatbelt on when she took the picture,” Melissa admitted.
“One investigator thought the ghost could be trying to warn her.”
Greg added, “At first, I thought the ghost was making a peace sign. But now, I believe he’s pointing to Harper’s seatbelt harness. Maybe he’s warning her.”
Melissa also acknowledged Harper’s reluctance to wear a seatbelt. “She is very stubborn,” she admitted.
“I’m always trying to catch her when she doesn’t have it on. I’ve even had 13 traffic tickets in two years because of it.”
Despite the unsettling nature of the image, Melissa doesn’t view it as a negative experience.
“I think it’s just a little boy playing, trying to be funny,” she said. “I believe it’s a positive thing.”
A shocking reminder of road safety
The eerie image was taken in July on a highway near Maitland, Florida.
Melissa, a photographer and writer, had been driving Harper to a beauty pageant. Harper later placed fourth in the competition.
While the ghostly presence remains a mystery, the message is clear.
Whether paranormal or not, the chilling image serves as a stark reminder of the importance of wearing a seatbelt.
“So many people have hope for the afterlife,” Melissa said. “To me, this proves it.”
